Sometimes this occurs. As another has said, if it has fruited before and this is the first time that it hasn't, don't worry too much about it.

However, if it continues to be barren, it could be a result of root compaction in the pot. Repot in a larger container, being careful not to shake off too much of the root ball in the process.

It could also be a problem of too much fertilizer. If you plant is really putting out large leave volume, cut back a bit on water and reduce feeding by at least one-half.

Watch for flowers and see if they set fruit. If you have large blossom drop, it could be insects or birds knocking them off before they have a chance to set.

Finally, it could be a fungus or mold. Look for tiny white flies coming out of the tree when you shake the limbs - they sometimes carry diseases. Also, check for a black powdery layer on the tops of older leaves - that could be a mold. Check under the leaves for what looks like angel hair and white spots. That could be mealy bugs and they can suck the life out of citrus. Insecticidal soap sprayed on the tree every week or so should take care of any of these problems (be careful - after a few minutes, wash the insecticidal soap off of the leaves to avoid sun damage and leave burn).

Hope that helps.

has it had fruit before? if so and isn't now, you may need to "wake it up" depending on how thick the stalk is--take a broom handle and whack it a few times. Not hard enough that you may damage it, but a few good licks. Alot of fruit orchards use this trick and also can do pecan trees if they have quit putting out nuts.

If your tree is under 5 years old, I would not be concerned. If you started it from seed, maybe even 7-8 years. Check out the picture of my improved myer lemon tree at :

They need a bit of a chill to set the fruit....not too much say 40ish....then bring it inside.
