Depending on how deep, you can also use superglue. Using the tip of a toothpick, apply a small amount to the scratch, then as it sets up, use a solid faced cloth, and buff it out.

use the car polish t-cut or similar

Car polish, well thats what i heard. Dunno about toothpaste though B!!!!
