I bought this house and the natural woodwork is pine. casing and trim that isnt painted lookks really nice. The previous owner painted all the crown and base and lots of the window casings. Im wondering if its worth the time and effort to try to strip the paint off or resand it. Is there any easy way to do it I dont want to try it unless its gonna look good. I dont think i could remove it either because its an older house and i dont think i could ever get the joints tight again. Any advice or tricks would be helpful. thanks.

I need so much work done around the house, but when I call a contractor, I always get an answering machine. I leave a message, but they never return my calls. I even stopped in at one's place of business. He said he'd come over and give me an estimate in about an hour. It was more like three hours. He did look at the job and said he could start the next week. That was three weeks ago! I'm getting really frustrated. What should I do about the whole contractor thing?

They are made out of fiberglass and are secured so tightly, I can't figure out how to remove them without destroying my drywall. The tub has a hole and needs replaced asap, but the surround is in good shape. The only problem is that they are customized to fit each other! Suggestions???!!!???

So i bought a Rhino propane tank for $50 to use with my turkey deep fryer...used it once, still has plenty of propane in it

I live in an apt building on the 5th floor...i have a storage unit in the building, but it is on the fifth floor too.

At the last apt i lived at, the fire department told the landlord that the first floor can use gas grills, but all the floors above have to use charcoal, because the gas is denser then air, and can leak and go down into people apartments. For this reason, i don't think its legal to store the tank on my balcony or storage unit...

So right now its just sitting in my car (i know, prob not safe), but i don't know what else to do with it...i don't want to get rid of it becasue of the investment...

Anyone know what i can do? please don't just list what you do if you don't know if its legal...there are lots of restrictions on what you can and can't do with gas.

Thanks

Our pool has been covered for the "winter". It seems to be losing water but there is no sign of a leak. Could it be leaking underground but not showing up? And how? It's concrete under there. We thought it was leaking from one of the return lines, but it is below there now and still is leaking. Also the liner is only a couple of years old. Can it be refitted to the pool? Thanks in advance.

A light bulb exploded and brought the shade down and splinters all over the expensive dining room table. He has cleaned it up as much as he can but has found two or three long deepish scratches on it. He is in a right panic cos his parents are home tomorrow afternoon and he is worried they will kick off.

Is there any way to cover up even temporarily these scratches??

my kids room is flat painted, and my four year old decided to practice his writting skills. I tried to use a magic eraser but it seems to be taking the paint off but "magically" embedding the crayon further into the paint! WTF! please help. thanks

In the past few months I have found brown worms, 2-3 inches long, some thin, some thick, in my house. I live in a 2nd floor condo, but the suckers crawl up the sides of the house, I see them from the outside! It just seems to be increasing. Any ideas what I can do to prevent them from getting in???? Please help!

we share a driveway with our neighbours. they have built a brick shed and have placed it as far toward boundary line as they can. i need to know how far from the back wall of the house is the minimum space needed to allow me to install a garage and safely allow me to get my car in it. at the moment i have about enough room to get an old type mini in between the gap with its wing mirrors folded in. is my neighbour breaking the law? hope you can help me;)

I poured gasoline on the first hill - didn't light it. They just moved about a foot away from that spot. Its in a part of our driveway that visitors or the kids friends park in, and my daughter came running into my bedroom on the way to the bathroom trying to pull her jeans off, 'cause she stepped on the hill in the dark and they just swarmed her.
