I rescue dog's and have large amount's of dog poop to clean out of dog pen's and want to know if it's o.k. to put the dried waste around my fruit trees as fertilizer. There is also a little pine straw mixed in with it. All educated answer's are most welcome. Thank you.

If you want to apply the waste directly, the answer is NO, do not do this.

If you mix the waste in with grass clippings and raked leaves and kitchen wastes and properly compost it, it should not only be okay, it will be excellent.

The composting is the key. The resulting mix will still be "hot" so a little will go a long way. The time to apply it is in the early spring, before flowering and again as the fruit is set.

No. In general, carnivore feces is no good as fertilizer. If anything, burry small collections of it in a compost pile and forget about it for a season, then turn your pile and repeat... When its gone, then maybe spread the soil around your fruit trees. Best results come from spreading it on the drip line of the roots. Around the trunk of the tree does a tree more damage than good.

I wish-I have 2 dogs that I am constantly cleaning up after them. Unless you have a way of sterilizing it or composting it, I would not recommend. You will notice that when you buy sheep or cattles manure at the garden centre, it is sterilized, which means it is put thru a process that cleans it for use in the garden.
