I poured gasoline on the first hill - didn't light it. They just moved about a foot away from that spot. Its in a part of our driveway that visitors or the kids friends park in, and my daughter came running into my bedroom on the way to the bathroom trying to pull her jeans off, 'cause she stepped on the hill in the dark and they just swarmed her.

Go to a L&G Center and get a canister of Ant Dust. There are several kinds and all of them work. Just dust in on the hill and it will kill the ants without hurting the plants or soil. All the other stuff (bleach, gas, etc. can kill plants and soil microorganisms.

Unfortunatly there is no way to keep them from coming back. If you would use a chemical to "sterilize" the area so they wouldn't come back it would allow nothing, neither plant or animal, to survuve there.

What about trying a bottle of bleach? Might work. It is worth a shot before you call in the exterminators.

We live in FL and I hate those little nasty things! I tried almost everything and they kept coming back. Finally just had someone come out and spray - that worked!

I think it's worth it, especially when you have children that are getting bitten - good luck.

Ha ha, lovable tale. yet regrettably, David Canary is retired. He could come lower back for visitor appearances, and that i will no longer be able to work out them recasting him. Sorry, perchance somebody else will save JR.
