We have a low area in our yard that is about 12 ft long and 5 ft wide. Everytime it rains it floods about 3 or 4 in of water and there is no grass there no matter how many times it has been seeded. We tried to lay down flat roacks and use mulch to fill in btween rocks, but our idiot dog keeps digging rocks out. What can I do so that this area isn't muddy and flooded and keep our dog from digging up our solutions?

We just bought our first home that runs on a septic tank instead of city sewer. It was pumped about 6 months ago. Anything I need to know? Preventative advice?

I live in a rented apt. On Monday, the dishwasher malfunctioned and flooded my kitchen which is carpeted (don't ask why). They cleaned the carpet with a professional machine but I don't think it was enough because last night it was still wet and it still smells. Can I get them to replace the kitchen carpet at their cost? I am afraid mold will develop and my baby who is crawling, will get sick.

My tub is taking almost the entire day to drain when filled up and when I shower it raises ankle deep. I tried Drano Gel first, then I was told it could be the air vent on the roof blocked and to run water through it with a hose. Did that and no change. I am going to try to snake the tub tonight, any other suggestions? Should I try snaking the air vent too?

At present basement wall has insulation in a plastic tube & only covers the upper 4 feet of the wall. Plan to inulate the lower 4 feet then add a vapour barrier on the inside. Should the plastic sheet between insulation & concrete wall be removed & only have plastic vapour on inside or warm side?

my kitchen has med. oak trim, cabinets and floor. counter tops are light tan. stripped off old pink wallpaper and was thinking of painting it green, maybe village green by laura ashley but am not sure if this is too dark. am looking for a vintage look that makes the kitchen a warm and inviting place. maybe another color? adjoining rooms: LR: off white (beige) and DR" chair rail (med oak) with paper flowered on top with mauve flowers, green and teal leaves and bottom teal stripes.

I was watching "Life Begins" on Monday, and saw a wallpaper i'm in love with! It's cerise pink flowers on a duck egg blue background (very 1930's), can anyone recall seeing this anywhere? I've looked on all the usual websites but cant find it.

Over the weekend I accidentally washed my shirt with a tube of chapstick. Now it has all these little oil spots on the shirt. I've tried pre-treating the shirt but that didn't work. What can I do to get these stains out??

for 2 years now i have been trying to eliminate my home of what some people have called "camel crickets". these bugs look like large jumping spiders- up to 3". we've tried fog pesticides inside and poured liquid pesticide along the basement foundation exterior walls (which seemed to have better results for a short time) but they're back in full force again. can anyone help us get rid of these awful pests once and for all???

Does anyone know what is the best thing to use to clean ceiling fans especially one in the kitchen where it is not just dust that I can use a brush to clean it but the dirt is sticky I guess from cooking and stuff in the kitchen. I tried wiping it off with a wet rag but that is not doing the job. Please help!
