I have a knit hat that is made out of some kind of artificial yarn (polyester, or whatever they make that stuff out of). I pulled it out of the closet yesterday and it's dusty. I'd like to wash it, but I've never washed it before. It has a lot of sentimental value, so I don't want to destroy it. How careful should I be in washing this hat? Will handwashing in Woolite be okay? (I plan to wash some other items in Woolite anyway.)

At 4am this morning there was something making a noise in one of the bedroom walls
I have 2 pet rats and know what they sound like when they nibble and it definatly sounded like that in the wall

I can only think ive got rats in my loft or some big mouse, i cant see it being a bird its was a knawing sound like something was knawing on some wood and it was quite loud

Could i possibly have rats in my loft? or could this be some gigantic wood worm, whatever it is its bloody scarey i just hope it doesnt chew the cables up there

I dont know how its ended up in the wall though

Is powdered or liquid dishwasher detergent better for the good functioning and maintenance of a dishwasher? Specific brands of dishwashers or not? If I use one or the other for the good of my dishwasher, will I have to sacrifice clean dishes? Does one or the other clean dishes better?

I have a brown leather messenger bag that is, I think, staining the upper part of my pants (looks black and dirty) that connects with the bag.

The bag isn't muddy or dusty, so I'm not sure what the stain is. Is it possibly something in the leather (oil) is causing the stain, and please tell me what I should do about it? Scotch Guard's leather stuff or some other proctectant? Just try to clean it myself? Professional cleaning?

Please help! Thanks so much!

How do I calculate the cutting of new stairs? My stairs are made of 1x4's for the treads and the stringers are 1x6 without the zig zag cuts. The treads rest on 1x2's nailed to the 1x6's. No center stringer either. The treads are currently 5" to 6 1/2" with risers of 8" and 9". Then it has a landing near the top with landing also being 1" plywood. I have to back down the stairs because I'm afraid of falling. The bottom step broke and I did a pirouette while holding with my right arm to the rail made of casing. Brilliant save. I'm a professional at falling down stairs. This would be about my seventh fall. Also, when they cut the beams for the hole for the stairs they did not reinforce the beams with joist hangars or anything.

I'm giving it another go... I have a bright red lawn fungus/mushroom popping up on my lawn here, in Miami. Exotic, yes, it reminds me of the Epcot sphere but the size of a small animal, up to 4 inches across (already thinking of names). I'm trying the extenion suggestion but haven't connected, yet. The invaders have a putrid smell, attracting flys that crawl through openings that are part of the 'design' on the surface. They fall apart like a deflated cream puff when handled, are fleshy/slimy and have a pale to white base that attaches to the ground. Not star shaped, I've not seen anything remotely resembling these things. How's that?

I want to tell my landlord, but I'm afraid he's going to blame me for some termite infestation because I put mulch in the flower bed next to the house. My husband and I have only been renting for 3 months and I put the mulch in 2 weeks ago. Could my landlord actually blame me for it and then sue me?

I have a very large garden area, I need to fill with plants. I need plants that stay alive all year. I would like some that grow to 2 ft. or less. I have lillies(the kind you see a lot planted at businesses) and impatiens(sp) and they both do well. The garden has spots where there is full sun and some with full shade. Also I'm on a tight budget
