At 4am this morning there was something making a noise in one of the bedroom walls
I have 2 pet rats and know what they sound like when they nibble and it definatly sounded like that in the wall

I can only think ive got rats in my loft or some big mouse, i cant see it being a bird its was a knawing sound like something was knawing on some wood and it was quite loud

Could i possibly have rats in my loft? or could this be some gigantic wood worm, whatever it is its bloody scarey i just hope it doesnt chew the cables up there

I dont know how its ended up in the wall though

you should hope you have rats. why? easy to find you see rats always well most of the time do the toilet in the same place day in day out so if you can find this spot in your attic or floor this is the place you should put the trap or water full with bleach or something. mice on the other hand go and please them selfs everywhare so putting the trap is basic put luck. best this . buy a rat snake. i had a mouse problem in my old flat during renovations and my snake done a runner[ slither] for 3 months it was AWOL and never seen another rat/mouse again.lol. hope this helps a little.

We had rats in our loft. We had a dishwasher put in and it climbed through the hole for the drain into the cavity wall and up into the loft. We had to get the council in and they put poison down. The poison is quite slow acting - takes 10 days. I felt quite sick, listening to it every night, knowing that the darn things were dying. never thought I'd feel sentimental about a rat, but I did. Also, make sure your water tanks are covered. The poison makes the rats thirsty and they crave water. You don't want them drowning in your water tanks.
Since then, my friend has had the council in for her rats. She says they now use a faster acting poison.
You can get traps - but you're not allowed to release vermin.

some homes hadn't settled all the way so it makes weird noises, j/k rats are easy to kill rat poison or rat bait or rat traps use stinky cheese for the traps, they love that stuff ? ? or use a friends snake to take them out, but then you have to find the snake...... which is harder to find than a rat ! ! the walls are hallow for the most part just insulation which is easily removable for a nest, oh shoot i just thought back when one of my buds heard something in his wall and we decided we'd shoot the wall with a high powered pellet riffle, yea we definitely killed the rat in the wall and nicked the side of his sisters leg in the next room too, we about died when his sister started to scream bloody murder, so at any rate no BB or pellet guns..... i hope this helped

i doubt whether it's rats
probably a pine marten, they are notorious for getting into roofs, and make an awful noise
unfortunately here (germany) you aren't allowed to kill them

you can try blocking the entrances (you'll see where they are if you look from outside carefully)...but try and do this whilst they are outside, otherwise you will eventually have a nasty smell too
playing music during the day (when they sleep) is supposed to disturb them too
otherwise, guess you are gonna have to call someone (yellow pages)

good luck

Well, if it does chew you cables, at least you will not need to buy a trap or poison.
