I have alot of shelves for my walls and ones that stand on the floor,,,, and they are looking pretty bare!! I never know what to put on them.. I always find these really nice wall shelves but I never put them up because I never know what to put on them... should I put candles? or what!! help! whats on your shelves at home?

Most people put too much stuff on their shelves so rest easy and don't overdo it. Definitely put some books on them... use your nicest ones and make a mix between laying them flat, one on top of the other and standing them up in a row. Don't put too many of them and in between, put your favorite decorating objects: vases, figurines, yahoos, etc. Make sure not to overload the shelves because they will look much better. And yes, of course you can put candles, just don't burn them on the shelves unless there is nothing above them. If you are very visual and need to see some ideas, go to the nearest store that stacks decorating magazines and check out the shelves in them and you'll see what I mean.

Take a deep breath. Look at how store merchandise there invetory. It is minimual. To keep things fresh looking go that route. Instead of putting books vertically ( like in a library) make small stacks (one on top of the other) and stagger them (On one shelf have the stack on the right, on the next shelf have themin the middle of left). Look around and buy vases that catch your eye for the color. Use picture frames, block letters, some small plants... Have fun with it, but to get a great display keep it minimual.

Shelves are great places to put candles and books and pictures. I use my shelves for my wizard and dragon figurines, pictures of my daughter, mirrors,candles, incense holders,my movies and music,shelves are easy, fill them with all of the things that you love or things that represent who you are.

Keep it simple...Candles are good, and a few pictures with frames, some books, maybe a nice vase or a couple of other decorative pieces. Whatever you have that makes you happy. A good rule of thumb for grouping items like candles or other similar items is to have groups with odd numbers...like 3 candles together, etc. Just have fun and make it yours! :)

Our shelves have books, candles, picture frames, block letters that say things like "Live", "Love" "Laugh."
