I was waxing my legs and accidentally spilled hot wax all over the bathroom counter. It covers an area about the size of the palm of my hand. It is hard on the surface but soft and pliable underneath. How can I remove it?

This happened to me many times and the only way to get absolutely rid of it is following these two steps:
First, let it cool and solidify completely. When it is all one compact piece, peel it off (sometimes, depending on what material your counter is made of, peeling off will do it, for example with formica counters). If it doesn't unstick right off, scrape it with a butter knife, careful not to hurt the countertop. Sweep away the little pieces.
You'll be left with a less than perfect result, so continue to Second Step: now that most of the mass of wax is gone, place a piece of absorbent paper over what's left of it, and iron (yes, iron, the one you use on your clothes) over the paper. This will cause the thin wax to melt into liquid and be quickly absorbed by the paper. You may need to change the paper and repeat a few times. Works like a charm!

A warm iron and newspaper.
Place the newspaper over the stain, move the warm (not hot) iron across and it will absorb the spill.
This works for candle wax, so should equally apply in your case.
It will not damage the iron.

Let it harden (Maybe cool down the room a bit) and the scrape it off with an old credit card.

Maybe you can heat it up or let it cool down and peel it off in a fast pace.

I would wait until it solidifies and then just peel it off.

Try baby oil that would take it away.
