I have a knit hat that is made out of some kind of artificial yarn (polyester, or whatever they make that stuff out of). I pulled it out of the closet yesterday and it's dusty. I'd like to wash it, but I've never washed it before. It has a lot of sentimental value, so I don't want to destroy it. How careful should I be in washing this hat? Will handwashing in Woolite be okay? (I plan to wash some other items in Woolite anyway.)

Hand wash, Woolite, cold water, rinse well, roll in towel to absorb excess moisture, lay flat to dry on a dry towel No problem.

Definitely hand wash it, and depending on the color of the knit cap you might not want to soak it for too long. Don't get freaked out when you see the water in the sink turning the color of the cap...it's not really fading the clothing!

Woolite is a great brand to hand wash in, though it doesn't smell too great. I use a product by Ecover, the Delicate Wash detergent. You can use it in the laundry cycle or in the sink when hand washing, same as Woolite, and it's super gentle and has a better smell than Woolite. You can buy it at stores like Whole Foods Market, and I think some basic supermarkets may carry it as well. Just make sure to follow the instructions to the letter, and you should be fine!

Woolite is pretty good...I would just hand wash it in the sink or something and let it sit to dry...should be OK. Wash it alone incase something bleeds.

woolite is good, so is any dish washing soap, a nice gentle one like sunlight, hand wash and towel roll to dry and if you have a wig head stand put it on to keep shape
