Not sure about the mosquito plant but as far as the red fire ants I used
Spectracides Fire Ant Once and done cost is 19.99 a bag and believe me it works. When you sprinkle it on and around the ant pile stand back the ants love the stuff and immediately take it down into the nest and in 24 hours you will see dead ants and in 3 days the nest is dead! You can buy this at Home Depot

They is actually a plant called a mosquito plant that will repel mosquito's. For red ants I don't know about any plants but you might try sprinkling red pepper flakes around the dirt to repel the ants.

The mosquito repelling plants would have to be within a foot of you to be any good. Nothing for the ants. Pesiticide for them is Amdro.

persistance.... there are plants to control mosquitos with the help of citronella . as far as the ants , get a commercial product such as "amdro" and you have to constantly keep up on applications. since there is 1 of you and millions of ants, they will try to reproduce very quick. You'll never get rid of all them but you can drive most of them away. Also remove all standing water in your area to control mosquitos. Just a small kids toy with rain water in it can host thousands of mosqito eggs

Mosquito's use a mosquito plant, for the ants use grits. Ants dehydrate and die.

citronella plants work for mosquitos.
not sure about the red ants tho...
