Yes use lemon oil furniture polish it will soak in apply twice and enjoy.

The best way is to strip it and revarnish/stain it. The smoke soaks into the varnish and the smell won't be easily covered. I have built in bookcases in my 1924 bungalow and had to strip and re-stain them to get rid of the smoke smells.

You could also buy a can of primer and then paint the book shelf, although the 'wood' part of it would be gone.

Start smoking in the house and everything will smell like smoke. You won't be able to tell the difference. lmao

Well now it is that turkey cooking in the oven, but I sure do miss the smell of wood burning in a wood stove as I had one in my previous home. That smell of oak drifting through the redwoods was unreal.

clean IT GOOD WITH BLEACH AND IF THAT DOES NOT HELP IF IT IS PAINTED PRIME IT AND REPAINT IT IF IT IS NATURAL WOOD SEAL IT AND RE VARNISH IT
