My tub is taking almost the entire day to drain when filled up and when I shower it raises ankle deep. I tried Drano Gel first, then I was told it could be the air vent on the roof blocked and to run water through it with a hose. Did that and no change. I am going to try to snake the tub tonight, any other suggestions? Should I try snaking the air vent too?

Of course I have used a plunger, that was the first attempt. I have removed the lever arm and weight so that is not the problem and it is new. I replaced it 6 months ago.

Hair clogged in the drain. The drano gell is the best try to disolve it, but since it's not a full stopped drain, it is usually only marginally effective. What your going to do next will be the best bet. Don't forget to go after the hair in the drain from the tub to the p-trap.

my brother had the same 'problem' for weeks.

it was the built in thingy that keeps the water in. it was stuck.
i moved it around and jiggled it. kept trying the lever up with water and down with water. it worked. he didn't know how to use it.
