My roommate and my room is very dry year round. We have to keep the window open and the fan on (even in the Winter!) because it gets very hot, however, the room is also incredibly dry. Are there any inexpensive and efficient ways to add moisture to the room without buying a humidifier (which just isn't on our purchase list at the moment)?

I killed about 50 of them one day before I figured out how they were getting in. My ceiling is Drywalled and the hole gets bigger every few days. I have tape over it right now, which has kept them out. I just attempted to patch it, but they came through and attacked me, OUCH! So as the sting fades, could someone help? I am in WI. and it is almost starting to freeze here, which I assume will put them into dormancy but the hole seems to get bigger everyday. I didnt even know it was possible for bees to eat drywall. I am thinking about shooting expandable foam in there to plug it fast, and maybe even douse the hive as well (wishful thinking) but what do I do to keep them from coming back in spring and munching more holes? My attic is a crawl space, with the access on the opposite end of the house, it would be hard to get over the trusses and insulation to find the hive this winter. Im a single mom trying to maintain my home myself....HELP!!!

A one-story brick house we're buying has a crack, which goes up from one of the concrete blocks of the foundation, about halfway up the house. It's widest at the bottom, 1/16th inch, and gets narrower and less severe the higher you look.

The concrete blocks enclose a concrete slab foundation. The brick walls are on top of the concrete blocks. The floors are attached directly to the concrete slab. Only one layer of concrete blocks is visible. I don't know if there are more below. The house was built in 1972.

The crack seems to be caused by damage to just one concrete block. That block is cracked in such a way that the surface sticks out at the bottom of the block, with the crack going up from there through the bricks. It's close to one corner of the house.

Our inspector said it's not serious, and we should just caulk and seal it. Is he probably right? Or should we worry? The appraiser either didn't notice or didn't care. His value is higher than what we're paying.

The floor slopes down about 6 inches in the middle where there was a drain. The garage doors are already filled in otherwise I know I probably should have just capped it with a layer of concrete to level it. To late for that though. I have been told to use treated 2 x 4's attached around the outside of the floor. Anything else you can add?
Thanks!
