I want to know if front loaders are far better than top loaders. I've been told they take 2 hours for a wash, but give better results with less water.

we are moving to a house with a huge backyard. But the front and back yards are depressingly devoid of shrubs and plants ans such. I want to liven the place up with garden plants. But I know its coming on winter - do I HAVE to wait for spring to get greeneries in pots or in the ground? Appreciate any help from you gardeners.

There are some publicly-owned trees on my property, and they block the sign to my business. I want to kill them without chopping them down or digging them up. They're only about 8 feet tall, and I need a method that is both quick and damaging, so that the tree will rot as quickly as possible, thereby forcing the city to pay for their removal/disposal. I have heard that pouring gasoline on the base of the tree would do it, or that cutting a ring in the bark around the base would do it, but i don't know if those are real methods or not, and throwing gasoline on the ground is an awfully environmentally-unfriendly way of trying to kill a tree, i think. Does anybody know a better way? Thanks, BZ.

Everytime i flush my toilet it makes a LOUD RUMBLING NOISE a minute or two after i flush it. It will eventually stop after a few seconds. Or it can stop instantly when i run the Faucet or run some water. Some type of PRESSURE thing is goin on with the pipes possibly. does anyone know how to fix this?

I live in Chicago. I heard a loud rustling noise and it came from my light fixture. Out came a HUGE beatle-roach-looking thing. I am not exaggerating. It was about 5" long, 3" wide, brown, had non-functioning wings, and 4"-5" antennas. I sprayed it with Raid repeatedly and it didn't die. It was slow moving. It fell to the floor and I squashed it with a hard-covered book and a 10 lb hand-weight. What the heck is this?!

It has been 2 months since the date of purchase, the installer came out and did 4/5 rooms and carpet for the 5th room was damaged. The store manager, installers, etc refuse to take responsibility for the damage and have been giving me the "it'll be done next week" excuse for a few weeks now, they keep saying the damaged piece was shipped to the manufacturer for inspection, blah blah but no word on when my last room is going to be done!! Worse thing is, the store manager says they have no obligation to compensate us for the wasted time, moving the furniture, etc!! Is there anything i can do to get them on the ball and get some money back out of the install job?

I have an unfinished bath in the current plans for my house, scheduled to start construction in a few weeks. I'm trying to find out how much it would cost to add the bath during, or after construction. The room will be framed and drywalled, but no plumbing, flooring, or fixtures will be installed. Assuming really cheap fixtures can anyone give me a central US estimate? Are we talking $10K or less? What's the absolute minimum I might be able to do this? (Sorry for such a dumb question. All the estimators I found are for ripping out an old bathroom and putting in a new one.)

The design has roosters on it and is mainly red, gold & olive green. I was able to find a four section serving tray at Ross, but would like other pieces.

I got a gift with a comforter, a skirty thing, 2 sheets, 2 pillow cases and 2 pillow shams. For the life of me I can not figure out what the pillow shams are for... they open in the middle and are too small for regular pillows so they obviously don't go over the pillow cased pillows.

Do I have to buy a second set of pillows.... I'm OK with more pillows, but they are an odd size, smaller than a regular pillow. Where would I get those and what size or style should I ask for.

3 graduate degrees and I am stumped by bed linens.
