You can refinish your cabinets for a decent price. You will need to strip them down and clean them really well. Then give them a nice coat of eiterh paint or stain whatever you want to do. If you paint make sure you prime first. If you stain, make sure you get a stain and finish. It is definitely worth it. You can turn some really disgusting cabinets into really beautiful cabinets. You would be amazed. Depending on how many you have, your looking at maybe a hundred bucks maybe evn a little more.

As opposed to purchasing new ones? Updated kitchens and bathrooms add a tremendous resale value to any home. It may seem expensive in the short term, but if done properly can pay huge dividends when trying to sell the house. So yes, totally worth it!!

Square footage, type of material, open or closed door design, is there any glass, vintage hardware on the cabinets are all factors in the refinishing process. Its not inexpensive, but without seeing the kitchen, its hard to estimate. Hope this helps some.

Here is a really great website that talks about refinishing your kitchen cabinets. http://www.finefurniturefinishing.com/newsletter10.html It gives you a lot of information on pricing and the pro and cons of doing it yourself. After researching I decided it was a lot more cost effective to do it myself. Hope this helps!

About 1/2 the price of new ones (maybe some more)

Yes, the wood inside is good. The fronts get worn, dirty, or you get tired of the color. They will look brand new. Only thing you can't change is deep patterms designed in, but it will look all new refinished and with new knobs and all.
