It has been 2 months since the date of purchase, the installer came out and did 4/5 rooms and carpet for the 5th room was damaged. The store manager, installers, etc refuse to take responsibility for the damage and have been giving me the "it'll be done next week" excuse for a few weeks now, they keep saying the damaged piece was shipped to the manufacturer for inspection, blah blah but no word on when my last room is going to be done!! Worse thing is, the store manager says they have no obligation to compensate us for the wasted time, moving the furniture, etc!! Is there anything i can do to get them on the ball and get some money back out of the install job?

IF THE BETTER BUSINESS OF CHAMBER DOESN'T WORK GO TO THEIR WEB SITE AND GET A DISTRICT MANAGER'S NUMBER OR ADDRESS. IT'S CLEARLY A MATTER OF THE LOCAL MANAGER NOT DOING THEIR JOB. IT'S A PAIN BUT IF YOU GOT TO THE TOP YOU WILL HAVE BETTER LUCK. HERE'S THE WEB SITE FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, GOOD LUCK!

I would contact the corporate office immediately. If the installer and yourself saw that the piece was damaged all that needed to be done was have another piece of carpet brought to your house. It has nothing to do with you if Home Depot wants to be reimbursed from the manufacturer and is waiting for them to inspect it. I would call and speak to that manager again and tell him this and when he still gives you the run around ask him for the number to the district manager AND the corporate office. This will usually scare them in to doing what they were supposed to do in the first place. If not make the calls to the district manager and the corporate office. Whether or not you will be compensated for moving the furniture or wasted time I really doubt it. Just be glad to get your rug laid and then NEVER deal with Home Depot again. Lowes is usually right down the road ;)

Are you in Arizona??? If you are I can identify with what you're going through. I've been going rounds with Home Depot and my roof for 9 months and still not resolved.
My next step is the Corporate office, hopefully they'll be able to do something...but at this point I have no confidence in Home Depot.
I will definitely not use them again. I had an A/C installed a month earlier than the roof, bought the A/C through Sears. Sears has never given me a problem when I can for service. I wasn't happy about a thumping I heard and they were out the next day and took care of it.
For home improvements I now shop at Lowe's and will contract Sears to do major home repairs.
I'll keep you posted on how I make out....please do the same..
Good luck

Contact the Corporate Office of Home Depot. Explainthe problem and advise that you will be talking to your attorney. Also, tell them that you will be letting all your friends and colleague whata bad deal you are gaetting from Home Depot. Persoanlly I quit going to Home Depot after I got the same run around with a new washer and dryer. Besides I fould that every time I went in there if I could find a clerk they didn't know enough if anything abiut what I wanted to help me. Also, contact your local Better Business Bureau. And the Attorney General office in your state. One or more of these should get their atttention.

First of all without knowing the "cause" of the damage, it's difficult to blame the installer,,as HD "Subs" out its work.

Certainly it seems that you need to go beyond that store manager, to corporate, and don't strictly hassle the installer.

If you can't get satisfaction through corporate, report the issue to the BBB, and maybe consult an attorney about filing in Small Claims Court.

I have to say I'm surprised that HD isn't acting on this. OH BTW,,, Get the carpet manufact. INFO and contact them directly as well, with the brand/style/color/model number, etc.

If you don't get satisfaction from the store manager tell him you are going to call Bob Nardelli. Then do it. Bob Nardelli is the President of the company. I don't expect him to talk to you but their staffs can always get things done.

If you need more names of people at Home Depot to call see the link below. It lists the corporate officers of the firm. (From the State of Florida Secretary of State Corporate registrations) [It is a .tif image file]

Call the BBB, home depot main office and hire an attorney, if that don't work put an BIG article in the local newspaper and tell people what has happened and then see what home depot does. They don't like that kind of advertising.

Oh hecks no!!!... If you paid them in full at the time of purchase, you didn't make several payments in different weeks. Better contact the people higher than the Store manager... that's BS. Hate places like that.
