My Trane split system heat pump is 18/19 years old. starting to do to many repairs on it..would like to replace it this winter..would like to shop around to compare quality and cost so that when I do get vendors to give me quotes I will a least have an idea what I'm talking about..I am not having much luck finding a place on the web. It seems that nobody wants to tell you what the real prices are.

My gas drier broke 2 weeks ago. (Kenmore) The repairman charged $143 to replace a $16 fuse and said that would fix it. (Sears) It broke again last week. The repairman said it needs another fuse and a thermostat. The charge would be about $120, and the part needs to be ordered. The drier is about 12 years old. Is it worth putting more money into this, or should I get a new one?

There is a white fungus on the base of a large tree in my backyard. I took pictures of it, but there is nowhere to post them on Yahoo Answers. I have an Ortho Gardeners book that seems to identify it as Armillaria root rot (oak root fungus). It says there is nothing I can do but make sure it doesn't spread to nearby trees by removing the tree and destroying the root system. It says that if the tree isn't that badly damaged, that I can remove the soil and cut out the wood in that area. Is that correct? Does anybody have experience with this and have any advice?

I bought a used Snapper Riding tractor. One of the belts that drives the blades snapped. After peeling the paint off the sticker (Someone re-painted this mower) I find what looks like LT16002 under model number. I tried searching for a belt for it on the various sites that sell them, but they require an OEM #. I have no clue what that is.

Also, anyone know anything about these tractors? I paid $300 for it, the tires are pretty shabby, but it runs just fine. The batter does tend to go dead so I have to re-charge the batter before starting it. Should I bother fixing this up? The other belts probably need to be changed as well. It is a 16 HorsePower briggs and stratton engine. I gave it an oil change - probably the first one its ever had. The muffler used to backfire some before the oil change (Not sure if thats related or not). The mower itself is intact, but just needs some TLC. I was trying to save some money - And I hear the snapper is a very good mower.

Thanks

It's part of a communion set, so taking a hammer to it is not an option! It's been placed in crookedly and seems to be very reluctant to come out again, and I'm afraid of breaking it.

i received an old chalkware item in the mail today. a large piece, of the last supper. 2 feet by 10 or 12 inches. however, when it arrived it was damged. i really want to try and repair it. or have it repaired. it is the exact duplicate of the one that my mother used to have hanging in our home when we were kids. i don't know what ever happened to the one she had. and my find for this one...the chances of it happening would normally be slim and none, but there is was with just one try. i collected the pieces as best i could...but the cracks in it are all the way through. i have pics of it. i have managed to menuver it so not to disturb the cracks. i feared that it would be too hard to get them back together once apart. gosh i hope that someone can help. thank you, --mafi

Moving into an older mobile home.everything has been remodeled except for the bedrooms.. I have an extremely small 12' by 10' room with dark paneling and light tan carpet. One little window so there isn"t much light from outside. The three main pieces going in this room are two matching antique dressers (tall, medium brown oak color)..and a single bed. Anybody out there good at ideas for brightening the room..I can not paint or paper the walls since I am renting not buying..Would appreciate any helpful hints.

I have a small, partly-shaded, town garden. I am looking for bright low maintenance plants that will last. I have been successful with fuchsias and geraniums but am looking for something else to complement them. Nothing that needs a lot of tlc as I travel a lot for work.

About every 2 months, I come home to find a puddle of cold water around my fridge. When I check inside the fridge, I find a standing puddle at the bottom. What is causing the water to accumulate? By the way, the fridge is at least 20 years old.
