About every 2 months, I come home to find a puddle of cold water around my fridge. When I check inside the fridge, I find a standing puddle at the bottom. What is causing the water to accumulate? By the way, the fridge is at least 20 years old.

Its defrosting and there are two things happening...one the drain is clogged, get some pipe cleaners and see if you can unclog it. Also there is a drip pan under the refrigerator that should be checked and emptied occationally.

good luck

Your refrigerator ought to have a pan decrease than it made to collect the water that comes out of it. it rather is organic, like the water that comes out of your motor vehicle while the air is on. The hose that at last ends up interior the pan decrease than your refrigerator is probable clogged or kinked. you should sparkling it/straighten it out so it may circulate lower back. the hollow that at last ends up interior the hose ought to be viewable while you're taking the crisper drawers out in spite of the fact that it rather is in distinctive places on distinctive refrigerators. (The water that collects interior the pan decrease than the refrigerator evaporates from the warmth of the compressor so which you by no skill many times see it)

Is it the kind that you need to defrost? Mine used to do that when the ice built up in it... If not you should get a replacement seriously.
