I have a broken drain plug on my pool filter canister. It sheared off, so that I cannot use the bottom of it to unscrew the rest of the plug. It is hollow and smooth on the inside, threaded on the outside. Is there some kind of tool that can be used to unscrew the remainder of the broken piece? For example, when you break a light bulb, you can use a needle-nose pliers, spread open, to unscrew the metal base of the bulb -- I need something like that, but something that's really designed for that use, that can apply more pressure, to unscrew it from the inside.

Any ideas? I'd love to go to Home Depot and ask for a "widget" of some sort, to save me the repair bill.

My moses-in-the-cradle is outgrowing its current pot and needs to be repotted. I was wondering what potting soil I should use.

Here's an image of the plant: http://www.plant.id.au/database/images/thm_guide_photo_15.jpg

My mother was telling me of what she believed to be an old wives tale about that a woman should not can tomatoes while menstruating as it would spoil the food. She happened to be in her cycle one time while canning and wanted to test this theory and canned the tomatoes. Every jar of tomatoes was spoiled and rancid when she opened them later. What would cause this? Hormones? Something released through the pores?

I woke up this morning and could not get a hot shower. The water was luke warm and couldn't get hotter. Does this mean our hot water heater went or could it be something simpler?

(Although we have had hot water up until today it did seem to take a bit longer and not last quite as long this week)

Yesterday when I went into my backyard there were dozens of little patches of grass dug up.....no little scratch marks where I could identify the size of the claw....I know I have raccoons but they usually wash their hands in the cats water dish, so I see the mud settling in the bottom.....I do have an oak tree and saw some squirrels last year, does anyone know if they go around scratching trying to find their nuts? I know they bury them everywhere and never remember where they leave them.....

Shes concerned that the procedure was done incorrect, asking me i was un-to sure myself. What the council did was removed the gas fires from both bottom and top floors, and blocked off with bricks and a vent you can open and close. They didnt block any of the chimney top off, but inside her attic where you can see the angling of the chimney, they put in a machine to remove damp. She said they didnt sweep the chimney before they blocked it and shes concerned that when it rains water will come in and form damp with the remaining dust in the chimney. Is she right to worry?

It is from the white caulk that is around the tube between the tile. I have cleaned it with undissolved clorax and it gets white almost immediately, but, I got sick. I have tried CLR and it only leaves an ugly looking stain.
