tomato stains of any kind - which ketchup is - can be bleached out by the sun - pour salt water on the area - even a salt paste will work, but the area needs to be wet too - lay the garment in the sun - check it in an hour and maybe renew the salt water if needed.
This has never bleached my clothing, jut the stain.

It depends upon the fabric, but here are the basics:
Remove as much of the excess ketchup as possible from the fabric.
Run cold water through the back of the stain as quickly as possible. This will force the stain back out through the fabric.
Rub a liquid detergent into the stained portion of the fabric. Work it in gently.
If the garment is white, or you have tested it for colorfastness, apply a mild bleaching agent like hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar with a sponge. You can also use lemon juice on white fabrics. Rinse well.
Repeat with detergent followed by mild bleaching agent until the stain no longer appears.
Apply a stain remover stick, gel, or spray and allow it to sit for at least 5 minutes.
Launder with detergent. Before drying double check the stain.
If the stain remains, rub detergent into the stain and soak in warm water for 30 minutes. Rinse well.
If the stain remains, apply stain remover stick, gel, or spray and launder according to directions.
These sites have additional suggestions.

Tomato is a real bugger. Wash the item and lay it out in the sun and by magic in a few hours the sun bleaches it out. Works for me almost every time. I first discovered this when my baby's clothes had tomato stains and I hung them on the line with the stains still there, but when I took them down, they were gone!! Good luck to you.

I had to deal with something like this recently, when soup splattered onto one of my white shirts. What I did was wet it down and rub dish detergent in it, then let it dry a while. Then I rinsed that out a bit and soaked the effected areas with hydrogen peroxide. I can't tell the spots were there.

I found a product that is called M30. It is a sort of goupy thick paste. Anyway, I tried it on a whim and have used it ever since. It takes out anything including blood. It is an extrememly cheap product and so I thought it would never work but it did and I have used it on everything.
