my neighbours have right of access through the alleyway between our terraced homes, the alleyway is on my property but i have to allow them access. however they choose to use their back door as the main door to their house, and have a notice on their front door saying please use back door , so any visitors to the house come through the alleyway, any hours of the day and night. the alley is directly under my bedroom and also runs past my back garden, where my young children play. i want to put a gate on the alleyway for security and to stop my children getting out onto the road and to give my neighbours a key so they can bring their bins out etc.but want to deny access to everyone else and force them to use their front door for visitors etc. can i legally do this?

A friend took a picture of some raspberries and there was a very unusual looking bug on them. It's small, yellowish orange, has short spikes with brown tips on it's back, 6 long whitish colored legs with black stripes on them. It looks somewhat gummy or squishy. Very cool looking bug - we would love to identify it's type. Please help - and thank you!

I am refinishing a small roll-top desk. The slats that make up the roll top do not have a backing material to hold them together. I need to know what sort of material to use and how to attach it to the slats.

I just bought a dehunidifier for my basement because it was recently finished and seemed to have dampness in the air. I started it up yesterday and it collected a lot of water, but the temperature in the room went up 4 degrees and it was getting pretty warm (80 degrees!). I had it set to 45% humidity but then I increased it to 55% when it started getting warm. Is this normal? Does the water in the air make the room cooler? I had a dehumidifier in the basement when I was growing up and don't remember this happening. Thanks!

I am moving from a 2 bed 1 bath place to a 3 bed 2 bath place with a lot more room everywhere. I have started packing and I move in five days. I don't feel like I'm organized enough and that I'm going to have trouble getting things from one place to the other. So what are some great tips to keeping organized when everything going on makes this event the most chaotic?

I know I should have caged or staked my tomato plant earlier, but it's now all grown and sprawling. It has several small tomatoes and is growing on top of my bush bean plants. I am basically using the bean plants as support to keep the tomatoes off the ground. The bean plants have served me well but are near the end of their productive time anyhow.

Anything you'd recommend at this point, or am I better off continuing to use the bean plants as a shelf that keeps the tomatoes off the ground? I'm hoping not to injure the tomato plant or ruin the tomatoes.

Thanks for any comments.

The holes are a little smaller than a hole punch. It seems like they are always near the bottom of the shirt and sometimes 2 holes appear.

we had a wet spot on our carpet in the basement. We had it dried out and with a dehumidifier on it has stayed dry. The setting is at 35 and the resevoir fills about every 24 hours. Is this to low? What is a good setting?

I just built a CP Morgan in Jan 2006. I pulled up the carpet, because we are considering laying laminate wood flooring and when I pulled up the "tack strip" there were holes where the strip was nailed on. That is now biggie but when I took a wet towel to the floor to wipe off dust the hole got bigger where the nail was and this hard top coat peeled off and the cement seemed to crumble under the use of the water. The hole went from the size of a pen eraser to about 3 in. just by rubbing it with water////is this normal? I knwo nothing about concrete or anything like that. I have a fear that since my house had it's foundation laid in the winter that maybe the concrete did not set? Any input would help
