Pack each box by room, write down what is in the box, and what room it should go into in your new place. Tape the paper on the box.
When you unload the box from the moving truck, put it in the room it belongs to so you will have all of your stuff in the right room.
Wrap up your valuables in newspaper or bubble wrap, and write FRAGILE on the box so you will be extra careful with it.
In your current place, put all of your packed boxes near the door or in your garage so it will be easy to move them into the moving truck.
Pack all of your necessities last since you will need your toothbrush and stuff until you move.
Good luck, I hope it's not rainy on moving day!!

I'm a champion mover! I've moved a lot - the latest being from Florida to Texas -- so here are my suggestions:
Pack by room. Label everything, and be specific. If you have more than one set of dishes, distinguish between the two. If you have fancy guest linens vs. regular everyday stuff, identify it. Pack a suitcase for one to two days (with toiletries) and include fresh linens and bedclothes to use when you first arrive at your new house.
Move the furniture in first. Take it from the truck directly to the room you want it, and set it in place. Get it put together if it's something that was taken apart for moving. Definitely get your bed put together and the linens on it!
When you move the boxes in - take them directly to the room where they belong. Do not just stack them all in one room, or the garage, etc. Initially it looks more neat to have all the boxes in one place, but the end result is that it's much more work, and you actually move the stuff two or three or more times.
Unpack one box at a time, put those items away, dispose of the box, and then move on to the next.
I started by putting light bulbs in all fixtures and toilet paper/paper towels in all the bathrooms. Next I got the bed set up (so I would have a place to sleep when my day was done). Then I worked on the kitchen (everyone needs to eat). Then I worked on the bathrooms. I simply moved from room to room.
Hope that helps and good luck!!!! At least you're moving to a bigger place - not a smaller one!

Since you obviously are at 'crunch' time, I suggest, if possible: Put the initials of the room, IE, MBR {master bedroom}, LR {living room, etc., on the boxes.
Moving is a pain, there's no doubt about that!
The 'perfect' move would entail: purging as you pack, 'like' room items in same box. As well as, beginning this process the day you know the move is coming! Hindsight is 20/20!!
With that being said, there's always those last couple of boxes which have such a hodge-podge of items!

As a moving veteran, I can tell you that moving is ALWAYS a bear.
But when you pack, you can put a list on the boxes of what's inside it as well as which room it came from. When you get to your new place, you can figure out if you want the things to go in the original positions, or in the new rooms.
Another thing: Pack yourself. I've lost track of how much stuff I've had broken by well-wishing 'helpers'.
When you get around to packing your spices from the kitchen, put them in the large pans and slow cookers: That will safe you box space.
Above all else, don't stress if you can help it. That will keep things from being so completely difficult. Remember that the only person you really have to please is you.
Good luck! And congratulations on the bigger house!

well sounds like you don't havea whole lot. have you packed each room seperatly. and label it on the top and one side.
if it would help to cut down on boxes . go bring like your bigger stuff over first. have a friend who's willing to help set up your beds and furniture. then if yougot more then one friend and some women. ask the women to remain there and start to clean it a bit then have them start to unpack stuff like kitchen or bathroom stuff. then on one of your other trips you can take those boxes back and repack then with stuff. if you don't you can always find a friend or neighbor to help tell them you'd buy then lunch or a few bucks for gas if it's across town or aways.
that is what i would do.
Good luck

Boxes.. lots of carboard boxes, Masking Tape and a few Magic Markers. Keep all items that are similar in the same box .. and mark it as such. An example might be: Dinnerwear. Etc. It takes a long time, but then when you unpack you will know where everything is ! Good Luck :)
