Do your wash your T-shirts with any pants or anything that has a zipper or a hook? Something sharp could be coming in contact with your T-shirts during the agitate cycle or possibly even in the dryer. Try washing your T-shirts separately. If the problem still continues, then there could be a problem with the washing machine you are using.

I think (if these are cotton tees) the cotton is stronger in some places than others. I am sitting here now in a tee shirt just like you are explaining. I think the washing and drying together is sometimes to much for the weaker spots to handle.

Because each time you wash and dry your T-shirts, the fabric weakens a little bit more .. and more holes will appear. It is normal wear and tear. Good luck ! :)

Do you add bleach to the wash? Bleach can weaken the fibers and make holes.

Something you are contacting during the day is damaging the cotten. Lots of acids will do this such as battery acid.
If you use bleach that can cause holes.
It's not moths....they attact wool not cotten.
