I need to pour a 45 degree angle on the end of the pier from the top of the pier angled down to the water level - 8 feet wide by 5-6 feet lenth. I am concerned that when the concrete truck shows up I will be unprepared. Will the concrete set at an angle or will I need to build some kind of form to contain and angle the concrete?

I have 3 of them by my flowerbed and I left this afternoon. When I returned, I found each of them stuffed with grapes. I recently bought a house, and I live alone. I'm sure this was a prank. But when I pulled out the grapes, the flytraps did not close and they seem lopsided.

I'm replacing an existing lug breaker panel that happens to be located in the fire-rated wall between my kitchen and garage. Per California, I have to bring the new panel up to code, which means either pulling all the wires and surface-mounting the new panel (yeah, right) or building some type of framing around the new panel. This doesn't quite make sense to me. What is the framing supposed to protect against? And is this even correct? Are there any other options?

The subpanel is the main house panel, fed from a 100A breaker in the main panel outside. I actually already fed another subpanel off this one (located in the same fire-rated wall about 36" away), so I'm doubly-screwed. Any ideas?

I like the looks of the squash plants - big and leafy with yellow flowers....plus the bonus of something to eventually eat. I plant acorn squash with seeds I save from squash I buy at the store.

...your state or country's health agency and water resource agency were to certify the water safe and if there was no odor to the water?

Most people in the United states don't realize just how little "new water" is actually available. Also they do not realize the cost of the water. If we had to pay what the water really cost to produce many people would not be able to afford it.

We need more natural light in the family room. We have 2 20"x19" leaded stain glass windows that we want to put on either side of the fireplace. So we need 2 new holes in the wall. In the past we put a hole in our basement wall to install a new window, but that was concrete block and a different situation. What we want to know is if there is anyone out there who may have added windows in their homes from scratch. We have within the past few years replaced the windows in our home by ourselves with prefab windows, so we have some experience with framing etc.

We are particularly looking for a way to take these leaded glass windows, which are probably 80+ years old but in great shape, and somehow use them to create the old-fashioned design one would see in a mid-century bungalow - windows flanking either side of the fireplace and swinging open into the room from the side. Does anybody have any ideas or any website that might help us accomplish all of this? Thanks!

We plan to build a new house in north Dallas. We asked our builder to install steel piers and they said because of the soil in the area have lots of rocks, steel piers are not needed. They actually may harm the foundation. Is this true?

Has anybody made a bed riser or lift for a bed before? I'm looking for directions on how to make a riser for a dorm room bed. The riser need to be able to elevate the bed an additional 30 inches off the ground.
Please do not suggest I buy one without naming the place to buy it from. Would prefer to buy if under 30 dollars, but I am willing to make it. Has to be stable enough for a lofted bed to sit upon.

I'm thinking dirty ducts, because the furnace filter has been replaced. The only other culprit is a former tenant used a grill near the back of the building, and the smoke may have gotten into the unit and discolored the walls.
