What is the best, most cost effective lighting for indoor growing of Cannabis plants?

I live in Sunny So. Cal and am a legal medical marijuana patient. Trying to cut costs. It's too expensive.

You live in Sunny So Cal, so if you can put the plant on the balcony or at the window during the day. Now for indoor growing you need a setup, you cant just grow a plant and expect it to be great.


I would go with a 600 watt light for every square meter of growing area. You can put about 9 plants in 1 square meter, and 600 Watts should do the trick. You want to put them in a manner that air flows as it should, you need airflow and some basic nutrients to get the best result. I think you can buy a 600 watt light at any place like home depot cheap, you just have to go to the garden section and ask for a 600 watt grow light.

The plants need about 12 hours of light per day. If you keep them by the window or on the balcony you will save money on the electric bill, for every hour in the sun thats one less with the lights.

Dont let people try to sell you more lights, they always pitch the 1000 watt but it uses lots of electricity and its good for growing but 600 is about the same, just cheaper. You can magnify the light after the plants are about 2 feet tall by putting aluminim foil on the ground and walls of the gowing area. This will reflect the rays, and make the plants absorb more.

You need to get to a green house supplier and get some Hydroponic lights.Watch out for nosey nieghbors also have to be sure not to tip of local law by having high light bills.Also have to cover windows but be discreate so those pesky nieghbors cant see.aluminum foil works nice be sure to paint the side the faces the world..Party on !!!

Only 1 problem; they require a LOT of light.
So if you have a high electric bill; the cops will knock on your door.
If you install a standby generator and put in a propane tank, and use a lot of propane; the cops will knock on your door.

Forget it, not worth it.
