We need more natural light in the family room. We have 2 20"x19" leaded stain glass windows that we want to put on either side of the fireplace. So we need 2 new holes in the wall. In the past we put a hole in our basement wall to install a new window, but that was concrete block and a different situation. What we want to know is if there is anyone out there who may have added windows in their homes from scratch. We have within the past few years replaced the windows in our home by ourselves with prefab windows, so we have some experience with framing etc.
We are particularly looking for a way to take these leaded glass windows, which are probably 80+ years old but in great shape, and somehow use them to create the old-fashioned design one would see in a mid-century bungalow - windows flanking either side of the fireplace and swinging open into the room from the side. Does anybody have any ideas or any website that might help us accomplish all of this? Thanks!
