Has anybody made a bed riser or lift for a bed before? I'm looking for directions on how to make a riser for a dorm room bed. The riser need to be able to elevate the bed an additional 30 inches off the ground.
Please do not suggest I buy one without naming the place to buy it from. Would prefer to buy if under 30 dollars, but I am willing to make it. Has to be stable enough for a lofted bed to sit upon.

I need risers that are EXTRA TALL not the dinky 6 to 10 inch ones sold at Target, amazon.com, and bed bath stores. Bed risers need to raise the bed 30 inches.

Already have a bed that needs to be utilized due to dorm requirements. Has to be a lift not a new bed frame.

hey, I was in the same situation. I put each leg on 2 cinder blocks on top of eachother (cinder blocks horizontally, not vertically). So find 8 cinder blocks )they're cheap and rise it up!

I used the space under bed for storage.

if you need more than 30 inches, you need to replace the bed's legs with home made ones, all you need is some 2x4's screws, saw, hammer, and a garage for the project.

if you want to make it even higher, you can find plans online, search for "how to make bunk beds" or something like that, here's a link:

good luck!

using concrete blocks to be purchased at about a dollar each from Home Depot or oither building supply store near you, lay out blocks with holes facing wall, not facing up, the holes can be used as cubby holes for storage or display.

Set the blocks about six inches apart creating another "hole" or storage space. then stack the next row onto altering the blocks , called staggering, to set center of the gap between the two blocks below, also creatind a staggered edge, you can use to set pretties on display or stack books you will need daily.

When you get thirety inches high, make one at the foot of the bed and if the frame is light or flimsy, make a third, wall in the middle of the bed.,

Simple go to Lowe's and buy 6 2x4's and build a 30 inch frame to the width and length of the bed and drill holes in the top of the 2x4's so the bottom of the bed post has a stable place to set get 4 straight straps again from Lowe's and connect the bed post to the 2x4 ,, been there done that.

Be careful with doing this as it can fall and cause injury!
