I Have been wearing glass' since I was about 5 (I am now 14), I went to my doctor to get contacts and could not put them in during the lesson... That was like three days ago. MY back up glasses are ready to be picked up so I am going to getthem tomorrow. I will also be trying to get my contacts in then I can't take them home intill I can show the doctor I can get them in and out. So I need advice on how to stop blinking and get the contacts in. And anyways I can practice or something at home without contacts. Thank you so much.

I have really bad astigmatism, and it's worsened 70% in one year. I'm also farsighted. The doctor fitted me with SO many different pairs of contacts for astigmatism, and they were all painful and didn't fit properly. (He said it was because my eyes were different?) Right now, I wear Acuvue soft contacts, so I'm wondering if I can get glasses to go over the contacts (just to wear in school, not all the time)? Personally, I don't think my astigmatism is horrible, because I can still see (with Acuvue contacts), but the doctor thinks I should do something about it.

20/150 for the right eye & 20/175 for the left. I also want to ask why some eyeglass lenses are thicker at the sides than at the middle, and some are just flat or have the same thickness at all sides?

okay, so if my rx is:
od -3.25 cyl. .50 axis 55
os -3.50 cyl.50 axis 55 add 4.00
so then if i'm understanding this right, the 4 is subtracted by my rx and my actual add on my glass would be 4.00 - "3.50"my lens power?? is that right or am i totally screwed up/!

Do you there's a eyeglass conspiracy that stops us from finding new ways (cheaper) to improve our eyesite without the need for glasses.

I am not writing this for any of you to feel sorry for me.
I just need and answer to this.
I was born Premature, so The chances I would have a problem with me was positive. They found a problem with my right eye.
They attempeted 6 surgereys cause apprently i was losing vision with that eye, but the retnia detached and I haven't been able to see out of that eye since then, plus The pupil turned in a bit.
I'm not hadicapped or anything but the people at my school always treat me like that. They also tease me about my glasses and constantly look at me closely and ask what the hell is wrong with me. My eye doctor told me that there was a surgerey avalible to striaghten my eye and look "normal," But My mom Is forcing me to wait till next year to get it done
All I'm asking is that i need a way to deal with the teasing
with the upcoming school year cause I've just about had it with the people that tease me everyday.

I have done a retina detachment surgery in January 2006 in my right eye. Now I need to do a cataract operation due to the previous surery.
What happens if I dont do it? Will I lose my eyesight completely? Can I postpone it and do it in another year time?

I just got contact lenses. This morning it took me nearly an hour to put both of them on. And right now, I want to take them off. But, every time that I attempt to take them off I flinch and freak out. I don't understand how I'm supposed to take them out. Or how to calm my nerves. It was easier at the optometrist!

My left eye is 20/300 with -1.0 astigmatism. My right eye is 20/4.50 with -.50 astigmatism. At 44, I am getting presbyopic. I need +1.50 reading glasses over my contacts. Is this a good idea or would I be better off with bifocals? And what about mid distance? Where is the cutoff? I'm so confused!

I'm going to buy the acuvue 2 contact lenses from 1800contacts, and am going to be trying them for extended use.

"Acuvue 2 is designed to be worn as a two-week daily wear lens (which means you take the lenses out each night). These contacts can also be worn as a one-week extended wear lens (which means you can sleep in them)."

^ This is a line from the website, showing that it can be used as 1week extended use contacts.

My questions are:
1- Will the contacts come off in the shower?
2- I will wear them at night, so I've heard the rumors of it getting stuck in the back of your eye, but my optometrist says its just a rumor and there is a membrane behind my eye so it couldn't, so nothing to worry about when sleeping right?
3-Can i carry over days? Like i could wear the contacts 4 days in a row take them out and wear the same pare a day later for 3 more days to add up to the seven day total?

Thanks, help is appreciated.

I woke up yesterday with a red spot on the white part of my eye. I figured it was just a blood vessel and no big deal. This morning when I woke up, the blood had ran to colored part of my eye and now I'm seeing blury. Should I see an eye doctor or will it clear up on its own?

Optometrist pressured me to see surgeon instead of fitting me for reading glasses. Told me new prescription wouldn't help because I have cataracts. She also said it would be 3 years before insurance would cover surgery because cataracts were not bad enough. Without asking, she wrote an e-mail to the surgeon and would have sent it if she had my phone number. She finally wrote a prescription but never let me look through the lens prescribed. The only explanation I can think of for her behavior is that she has a financial incentive to send this surgeon patients. I am really uncomfortable with what happened and am considering reporting the incident to the state medical board. I see well except for eye strain when I read. She prescribed prism for the reading glasses to eliminate strain. Optician told me eye strain is not related to cataracts. Prism helps eyes converge. I have a one diopter change in my rt eye since June 2005. I plan to see optholmologist about cataracts.

I just got new glasses 3 days ago after not wearing glasses for 5 years. My right eye lense is 2 1/2 times stronger than the left so it's a big difference for me. Is it normal for things to not look as clear when you have each eye so different? It feels like it was easier all these years without glasses.
