heres the problem,i have got astigmatism and trying my very best to slow down the "power " from increasing.i must say that for me,using the PC is very needy but using it also creates problems to the eye.ive tried bringing down the coloration of the screen but mentally, i still feel that the screen, the pc itself is still affecting me. The are people ive seen who work and spend their whole day in front o the PC and dont have to wear glasses and not suffer from various eye problems.i really want to work with confidence in front of the PC without having anything to be woried about....any suggestions? also, why cant i spend more time like the "others" do without suffering from eye problems? am i genetically affected?

when I wear my contacts my eye turns red and really sensitive to light. so I take them out and my eyes are still red and extremely sensitive to light. You may laugh, but I'm wearing sunglasses as I type because the screen burns like crazy. It's not pink eye...I was prescribed medicine for pink eye a month ago and wore my glasses for a week and a half while taking the medicine (and it worked). I threw away my contacts and everything I used with my contacts (the solution, the container...). I started wearing a new pair of contacts and it happened again! So I wore my glasses for a week and it went away without any medicine. Then I started wearing the contacts again and again my eyes turned red and really sensitive. I ended up throwing that pair and everything else away too. it's mainly in my right eye, but a little in the left. My eyes don't itch, they just burn really bad. i really don't have time to go the doctor with sports and clubs and school, but if this is really bad then I will.

And contacts are better?

I used to have really good eyesight, I only needed glasses for one thing and that was to read. I kept getting headaches from reading to much and they said my eye muscles were weak. I didn't wear the glasses they gave me. But, over the past year I've noticed that my vision is getting really bad. Like, when I'm in the first row in class, I can't make out the teachers facial features. I can only see my facial features when I'm about 3 feet from the mirror. I used to be able to read signs really well from far away, and now I can barely see them when we're driving pass upclose. It's been happening so suddenly, I don't really know what to do. I don't go and get my eyes examined.
I don't know what's going on? I don't want to sound paranoid, but am I going blind or something? What do you think is going on?

I'm really bad at putting my contacts in. I can take them out really easy, but when I put them in, I get squeemish and mess up. I thought some contact stories would make me feel better, or if anybody has anything helpful to say.

Thanks everybody!

I recently had a tiny vein that burst in my eye, and it stayed red for a week. I had not strained myself, and have never experienced this before. The only thing out of the ordinary is my allergies have been out of control lately and my contacts have been uncomfortable. I popped in and asked my optomotrist if I could still wear my contacts and she said yes and was not concerned, but she was in such a hurry I did not get to ask her what might have caused this.

im near sighted but i can still see far away. i wanna be able to see clearyly again without glasses. the only times i wear glasses is when im at school in math class because i sit far away from the board and dont wanna ask to sit close because i barely wear glasses.
the reason i dont wanna wear glasses at all is if i wear it in school it will mess up my eyes even more and i wanna improve my vision instead. what do i do?

plz experts only?

With this prescription do I really need real glasses or would cheap reading glasses work for me? I wasn't sure if the woman at the eye place was just trying to sell me glasses or if she really thought I needed them. She kept saying you really need glasses and she acted like she couldn't believe I hadn't been wearing any when she saw what my prescription was.

Prescription is OD +250, -75, 90, OS +250, -100, 110

Thanks guys!

I went to the eye doctor this morning for a comprehensive exam, mainly to see if I needed glasses (which of course i do). The doctor stated that I had drusen and diagnosed me with macular degeneration. I have googled and googled but I guess I am not clearly understanding simple things. I need statistics like how many people will actually go blind, can I retard the progression and for how long...And did I mention that I am only 40? I am struggling right now with what did I do to cause this. Any and all help appreciated.

I have interminttent strabismus where the eye I'm not using will cross inward. I've had it my whole life. So I have a constant cross-eyed appearance. I'm the first in my family to get this.

I've heard that my condition is hereditary and I'm aftraid that my kids might get it. I don't want them to have to deal with this. What are the chances I'll pass it on?

The vision in my left eye is 20-10, and the right eye is 20-50.

When I was little, I wore an eyepatch ... and then had an eye operation ... and then I stopped wearing glasses ... but then my vision in the right eye started crapping out ...

So I have one "bionic eye" and one sorta-blind eye.

Whenever I'm in a room w/low light, my right eye turns in.

It's really annoying. o __o

My eye doctor said there's nothing he can do, and if my good eye happens to get poked out or something, I'm screwed.

It makes reading difficult, too.

wtf can I do?

and it got all bruised. eventually, my eye healed, but the little pink thing in the corner stayed purple. to this day it still looks purple. is this bad? my vision is 20/20, ive asked my optomitrist about this but he never really talked to me about it. is there any reason to worry?

just recently my eye has have started to water a ton and sting totally randomly! like i'll just be sitting there (or today, marching) and it'll start watering and stinging a lot. in fact, it's doing it right now...and it's just my left eye! i wear contacts, if that makes a difference, but i took them out mid-day when they started to get all blurry. right now i am not wearing contacts but my eye is watering.

I have been using Eye Dew Drops for the past 7 years or so, never had any problems but someone told me that they can damage your eyes if being used long term.
Does anyone think there is any truth in this as I am sure the manufactuers would mention it on the labelling?

I need to no as im planning on getting contacts, does the optician do the test where you feel a small puff of air in your eye if your 13? And does he put drops in, and DOES ANY OF THIS HURT? coz im a lil bit nervous! =s

I'm only 15, and I have severe astigmatism. It's getting worse and worse every year, and my parents and doctors are getting worried. My prescription for my left eye is -4.50, -1.25, x180. My right eye is much worse.

My question is, should I worry? My dad has bad astigmatism too, so it must be a gene thing... but still, I have worse astigmatism as him. Is it possible for my astigmatism to get so bad that I become legally blind in the future? Is there anything I can do to slow down the astigmatism? I'm worrying a lot, someone please answer!

Thanks
