when I wear my contacts my eye turns red and really sensitive to light. so I take them out and my eyes are still red and extremely sensitive to light. You may laugh, but I'm wearing sunglasses as I type because the screen burns like crazy. It's not pink eye...I was prescribed medicine for pink eye a month ago and wore my glasses for a week and a half while taking the medicine (and it worked). I threw away my contacts and everything I used with my contacts (the solution, the container...). I started wearing a new pair of contacts and it happened again! So I wore my glasses for a week and it went away without any medicine. Then I started wearing the contacts again and again my eyes turned red and really sensitive. I ended up throwing that pair and everything else away too. it's mainly in my right eye, but a little in the left. My eyes don't itch, they just burn really bad. i really don't have time to go the doctor with sports and clubs and school, but if this is really bad then I will.

on tuesday-thursday this week I put in my contacts for the first time in 2 or so weeks and yesterday I woke up and even my alarm clock light hurt (i had to get ready without lights in my bathroom!). My eyes got a little better throughout the day (wore glasses), but every once in a while my eyes would just spaz out and I would have to shut it for a couple minutes and keep it partially open all day. It also watered when it would do it's spaz thing. it was horrible! I ended up not going to practice. I woke up this morning and all was good so I wore my contacts. I took them off at 6 because they were starting to get pink. They didn't start hurting today until now. and they hurt bad!

I have day and night contacts but I never wear them at night.

They are extra breathable so it's not like I'm wearing them too long. ( I only wear them around 14 hours a day anyways).

I wish I could help you, but the best advice I can give to you is to tell a doctor as soon as possible.

You really really need to see your ophthalmologist. There are too many causes for these things to be diagnosed online, and some of them could cause permanent vision loss if not treated. That's obviously a worst case scenario, but the sooner you get proper medical care, the sooner you can be sure nothing is permanently wrong. If you call your eye doctor and explain the symptoms, they'll most likely want to get you in the office right away.

Good luck!

Hey you are back. How was the trip. I wear contacts too. I am not really sure what is wrong, it could be that brand of
contacts. Unless you are using different kinds each time. Other than that i really don't know. I would see a doctor if it continues. Good Luck.

Only an eye doctor would know the correct answer. But I would say that you are probably allergic to what ever the lens is made of or coated with. Since you are involved with sports I understand the awkwardness of Waring glasses but at this time it may be your only out until you can visit an optometrist.

Maybe you put in your new contacts using your dirty hands and got a new pink eye infection. Or maybe your eyes are too sensitive to use contacts and you will have to give up on them.
