You can try to let it heal, but don't wait too long. If it hurts to blink our move your eyes, there could be a scratch on the cornea. The problem is that if you have a scratch you can get an infection. If it is painless to blink and move your eye you are probably safe to wait 24 to 48 hours to see if it improves. If you hurt yourself at work, the company should cover you on workers compensation insurance. If it is going to heal on its own, then you should see an improvement after sleeping.

It sounds serious, but likely you'll be fine without medical attention. If all you're feeling is a little soreness, the damage probably extends no deeper than the cornea, which heals at an amazingly fast rate.

Wait a day - if it feels much better tomorrow (it probably will) don't bother with a doctor. You need to be VERY careful of infection though. If you see any substance or discoloration of the eye aside from being a tiny bit bloodshot, or if your temperature starts to rise, get yourself to a doctor fast. An infection in your eye can cause blindness.

don't risk your sight. They have special programs to help if you have no insurance. I went to my ER and spoke to someone in financial aid to help me when I was in for some tests. Hope you eye is fine....

Go to emerg. If it happened at work, your employer should cover the cost.
