I wonder for people who are having myopia, when they reach 40 and above and becomes presbyopia, will they be able to see far clearly instead, i mean most of them.

Well I have had contacts scince the fourth grade. I use just plain basic acuvee which said that you can leave in for 6 nights. I must admit though.. I am very bad at taking them out. I really only even change them or take them out when one rips or falls out and I just put another one directly in. This means normally about a month or a little less with them in. My eyes are fine now but will this cause damage to my eyes later in life? I don't want to be blind when I'm 50. I have fallen into a very bad habit of doing this but if it really is damaging to my eye I will be scared into just leaving them in for a week?

I am almost 19, and I have a farsighted eye and a nearsighted eye. I hate the way my eyes look in glasses--one of my eyes is magnified, and the other looks shrunk.

my prescription:
Right: +1.00 sphere, +1.00 cylinder, 120 axis
Left: -3.25 sphere, +.50 cylinder, 90 axis

I know that I am not yet 19, and my eyes will keep changing up to a certain age. However, I want to know how high my sphere numbers could get in my eyes before they level off (maximum possible estimate), considering that my eyes will get worse with time just because of age, until they finally level off. I'm assuming that nothing weird would happen to my eyes, like I would get cataracts. I'm afraid that, before my eyes level off, I might get to the point where I'll be wear a -7.00 lens in my left eye, and a + some number lens in the other eye, and I will look like a total weirdo in glasses.

Would wearing contacts help to minimize the difference in my eye sizes, as they are perceived?

I went to the doctor because I am loosing my vision in my left eye only. They took a picture of the inside of my eye and found out that i have white spots in the posterior of my eye. They did not know what that meant. I am waiting for an appointment with a retina specialist. Does anyone know what this means? Is it perminent? Am I slowly losing my vision?

Just a few questions about contact lenses:

1. Are they expensive? How much would they cost for a year? Both the king you remove every night and the gas-permeable type.

2. How long can they be worn? I've read 6 hours but that seems a little low.

3. Do I have to have a pair of glasses or is that just optional if my vision is otherwise "good enough" to get around the house?

4. Can I swim with contacts (wearing goggles of course) or should they be removed for that?

*Sorry to have so many questions in one. I hope that's not cheating!

My tonic (astigmatism) contact lens prescription is:
-4.75 -0.75 x010 and
-5.00 -1.25 x170

what would my prescription be for regular contacts?
(I know that I wouldn't be able to see as clear with regular contacts, but I would just like to know)

When do our eyes stop growing progressively worse? Many people who have vision correction, glasses, contacts, the like, we know that our vision lessen progressively. However there is a point in time, after several years, that our eyes become much slower in their degeneration, isn't there? I think that my optometrist told me this point was at about 25 years of age, but I just wanted some collaboration. Thanks!

When I go cross eyed, the eye I see out of mostly stays straight and doesnt mo0ve while my left eye, the one I hardly see out of goes in like when you go cross eyed. So which one is my good eye and which one is my lazy eye?

My right eye has changed by one diopter in 2 years. My left eye is about the same. I have cataracts in both eyes but not so advanced that Medicare will pay to have them removed. What can cause change in one eye?

I was wearing another person's socks the other day and it seemed a bit dirty, but I for some reason chose to smell it and held it to my face or a brief amount of time. One week later, I have an irrational fear (I hope) that no contaminants or threads from the sock got into my eye and will make me blind. THere is no way for me to tell my parents this as it sounds so silly, but is my fear exaggerated? I've heard stories about people getting eye infections from contact lense pieces left in the eye, but now I fear potential threads of cotton will be left in my eye and give me an infection. The strange thing is that I've started worrying about this only one week after smelling the guy's sock. Yes I do have a sock fetish. And usually I don't worry, but since this is someone else's sock, my mind gets all jammed and starts worrying Help.
