Has anyone had an eye axam done at walmart? If so, do you think it was worth the cost? I was told $124. for an exam for contacts and $68. for an exam for glasses. I don't have insurance and can't wait 6-7 months to get into my regular dr. Do you feel they are knowledgeable and worth it?

I've been wearing contacts for 3 years now and all I have noticed is that my prescription goes up allot every year. I don't think it went up that fast when I wore glasses. Or does the prescription change the same?

I had an eye appointment yesterday and the Dr. said I have astigmatism (which I already knew) and he also said it looks like I have a congenital cateract in my left eye. My right eye is fine but he says there is "no correcting the left eye with prescription" He referred me to speacialist but said the probably would not do surgery becasue of my age....? If anyone knows anything about congenital cateracts please let me know!

P.S I'm 20 years old.

hi - I am a heavy computer user, and I have been seen for glaucoma for a few years now. My last checkup went better, in part because I finally started using the eye drops...

but the computer screen causes me all kinds of trouble, I've upgraded monitors tried glare screens, played with my settings, pretty much everything. my eyes still hurt every time i use the computer. I tried changing my position, distance, everything.

in the past I had special computer glasses I dont know if that would help.

It seems that the pressure added with the computer makes for not a great situation and I wonder what I can do and if I should try to quit using the computer so much, but my wife died, I 'm alone and it's an outlet tot he world.

thanks

My right eye sees perfectly (I think) and my left is not so good. I was just wondering does an eye doctor ever prescribe just ONE contact lens?

I have my first optometry appt. tomorrow morning, so I'm just curious about my options and what I should bring up with the doctor.

what is glaucoma? what makes it better what makes it worse, what causes it?
why do they want you to use eye drops all the time - it's such a hassle, what happens if you don't do it
why do my eyes hurt

I just don't understand some of this stuff.

another question - my vision got better on my last appointment, what would cause a glaucoma spot to lessen or go away -

this stuff makes no sense at all to me, and the doctor is no help at all. They talk to me in this medical lingo and I speak English.

I'm not going to humilate myself and actually admit that I really dont' understand what they are talking about.

i am about to turn 35 and was wondering when i will need reading glasses.

and will those glasses at 99 cent store with 2x, 3x, 4x, etc. work or will i need special prescriptions?

and does your eyes get worse and worse like being near sighted?

and what about the fact I had LASIK to correct near sightedness about 10 years ago?

My eyeglasses precription changed from -2.75 to -3.25 for both eyes. I just got my new glasses (first new ones in four years). I have pain in my eyes and a bad headache is this normal when your eyes are adjusting to new glasses? (This has nothing to do with eye dilation that was over two weeks ago) I have been wearing new glass for almost 3 days now. Thanks for any advice. :)

Well, can a person have nearsightedness and farsightedness in the same eye? I also want to know if people get bifocals to correct problems like this. Or is there another reason for essentially having two different prescriptions for the same eye?

My current assumption is that people get bifocals if they have myopia, but then as they start getting older, they get presbyopia too, so they need the bifocals to correct the problems. Or, they were farsighted and nearsighted in the same eye, so they needed bifocals to correct the problem.

Are there any other reasons for wearing bifocals besides what I just stated above?

I don't think this problem applies to me--I am just curious.

one of my eyes is clear while the other isn't. i used to have clear eyes but now they have (my nurse of a mom says) "pigment". i was wondering is there any food you can eat [like carrots that give you good eyesight in dark] to make the sclera(i don't know if that's how you spell it or if its that word) clearer. to all the medical people out there.

i sometimes get these white sort of flashes in my eyes when i stand up too fast....but i heard that can be blood pressure...like little comets that move and then disappear...but i notice too that if i sort of unfocus my eyes looking at anything, i get these same kind of white flashes, but that dont move...they flash in and out fast...like static on a tv but not nearly as concentrated...what could this be caused from? and what is it? is it normal?...thats three questions....no dizziness accompanies them or anything....they are just there when i unfocus my eyes....thanks for any answers..
