Reading in a dark room will put strain on your eyes, but it will not cause any permanent damage to your vision. The most that will happen is that you may experience eye strain and sore/tired eyes... with resting and the use of artificial tears this will clear up and no harm to your eyes.

it won't hurt your eyes but in the long wrong it will mess up your vision really bad so i suggest getting a reading lamp or something to read under a light. as long as there is a lot of light on the book or paper you are reading you should be good
but i am no doctor.

Not any permanent damage, but will cause eye strain & wrinkles around eyes from squinting. Possibly headaches too!
