I have it in one eye and I wear contacts part of the time and glasses when I am giving my eyes a rest from the contacts.

You can get glasses or contact lenses (but those contact lenses must be toric lenses to correct the astigmatism).

I personally wear glasses to correct my astigmatism--I just don't like having to put things into my eye. I am not really sure how much my glasses correct my eye with the more severe astigmatism very well, though; at least they work with the eye that has only a minor astigmatism.

I have just over 3 dioptres of astigmatism in each eye.

I've worn contact lenses for this (It can be done, and I have more things than astigmatism that makes fitting them in my case tricky ) but now I wear glasses. I discovered that the only insuperable problem was that I can't be bothered with contacts.

If I was more into active sports I might answer differently.

Hi, astigmatism is that you have your eyes not rounded ,it's more a less the shape of a rugby ball. And of course you can use contacts!!!. I have myopia and astigmatism since 10 years and im using contacts perfectly. The contacts for people with astimagmatism is called "toric".
Anyway i recommend you to use contacts but when you're at home you can change them for glasses because is important to leave the eyes rest.
Good luck!!

I have and astigmatism in both eyes and i have just started wearing contact lenses.

It has been a pain but i am getting there - i have gone through 2 pairs already due to them tearing (incorrect removal!!)

Some days i wear the contacts, some days i wear the glasses, it all depends how i am feeling really, but its nice to have the option!

I do. I chose glasses becase the fitting for contacts was a long process and I didn't want to do it. They have to try a pair and adust the fit and then another and then another..... anyway I decided 3 weeks of that is bulls**t.
One good or bad thing about glasses is when your eyes and brain tires out from all the 'correction'. you can easily take them off. My glasses help me see but they also wear me out. I'd hate to think of going through the fitting process only to have the indignity of a struggle to get those things out of my eyes because I need a break. I've heard Lasik is also good for astigmatism. Its very expensive though and kind of risky.

my mom has an astigmatism and she can wear these special contacts that are shaped differently than normal ones so that they work with astigmatisms. They also self rotate to keep themselves in the right direction

I have astigmatism and I use proclear toric lenses. They are the best, I have tried other brands but they didn't conform to the shape of my eye and were extremely irritating. They take some time to get used to but they are fine once you get used to them. I still wear glasses sometimes though, like if I am too tired to put them in, in the morning.

I have it in both eyes, although worse in right eye.
It doesn't matter - I wear both. Contacts still work just fine, but my eyes feel better if I switch to glasses in the evening.
There are supposedly contacts just for astigmatism - but I found that regular contacts work just fine. (I use Johnson & Johnson Acuvue extened wear disposables.)

I have astigmatism, and I wear glasses. I have nothing against contacts, they just aren't convenient for me.
