You've been given some rubbish answers.
I'll support Dr Frank.
"Lazy eye" does not suddenly appear in an adult.
Therefore it's something else.
If it's a sudden mis-position of the eye, a turn, then there has been a blood supply or nerve problem behind the eye or in the brain. This needs medically checking.
If you mean the eye has got poor vision when previously it was better, there's a wider range of possibilities, but again they need medically checking.
These also include a haemorrhage or nerve damage.
Yes, it could be permanent, but may well not be.
Only a proper examination will sort out the different possible causes and whether treatment would help.

Yes I think you should pay attention to Dr frank 's advice I had a mini stroke TIA and my eye was lazy for about 3 months it has almost recovered but I needed medication to lessen my chances of a more serious stroke. It may even be more serious condition like a brain tumor SO GET TO THE HOSPITAL OR YOUR GP AND GET CHECKED OUT NOW.

Sudden onset of what you call a lazy eye, means sudden paralysis of an eye muscle on one side. This is not the sort of benign congenital condition, but would suggest the development of acute pathology. This may well be at brain, rather than eye level and needs specialist investigation fairly urgently.

Just because you haven't noticed it before, doesn't mean that it has only just happened, it may be that it has suddenly got worse and that is why you now noticed it. any change in your vision should be investigated as soon as possible. You only have one pair of eyes, if you lose them you can't get a new set. Look after them and get this checked out.

Is that the only symptoms or is there any numbness in the rest of the face? This could indicate Bell's Palsy. Most people fully recover from it.
