I've been wearing contacts for 3 years now and all I have noticed is that my prescription goes up allot every year. I don't think it went up that fast when I wore glasses. Or does the prescription change the same?

It is thought that the use of contact lenses or even ortho keratology contact lenses have an effect on slowing down the progression of myopia.
Wearing contact lenses has nothing to do with your eyesight progressively getting worse.
Wearing any type of correction just bends the light correctly so you can see clearly..... any type of correction does not make your eyesight better or worse.

With age a prescription usually changes. But I do believe glasses are safer than contacts for the eyes.

Some people get to comfortable with the contacts in and do not remove and clean and let their eyes recover from wearing them so long..

If you are in Gas permeable lenses {HARD} they won't change as much, but they require a lot of build up time to be able to wear them all day. If you were in soft lenses your eyes would generally change at the same rate as they would with glasses. For overall eye health. Glasses are better since wearing contact lenses cuts off the oxygen flow to the cornea. Plus most people don't take as good of care of their contacts as they should.

well, it depends. my eye doctor says it doesnt have anything to do with it. i wore glasses and doubled alot then grew alot more. i just started wearing contact lenses for about a year and my prescription hasnt changed yet =) glasses are alot better though because your eyes can get the oxygen it needs, while contacts cover your eyeball so no oxygen gets in, therefore it gets dry. well good luck!

I wear both. You can't wear both to sleep. The contacts just dry up and have puss on them when you wake up. You have to clean your contacts daily. Your glasses don't get dirty as much, depending what you do. I can probably go 2-3 days without cleaning glasses. Depends on each individual. Good luck.

Wearing contacts won't make your Rx change any faster than wearing glasses. In fact, certain types of RGP contact lenses can slow the progression of myopia.

as you grow your prescription should change (or as so my optomitrist says). I don't know how old you are, so that might not even affect you ;). when you where glasses you can take them off when you don't need them like when you read. however with contacts they are always in.
