I'm not sure of your reasoning behind this theory. If you're a -4.00 ou (in both eyes) why would you only wear one of your lenses? Unless you've only got one lens because the other one is lost or ripped...

Wearing only one lens isn't necessarily going to make the eye worse. It certainly WILL cause a lot of headaches and eyestrain because you will have one eye that's clear, and one eye that isn't. And if you think by forcing one eye to work harder that you're going to strengthen it, you're wrong. Your going to need to stock up on some Advil or Tylenol though...for those headaches that you're going to get.

If it is because you've lost or ripped a lens and you only have the one, it won't kill you, but it would certainly be in your best interest to go get a replacement as soon as possible.

I've worn a contact in my right eye only for over 25 years. My vision in my left eye is not that bad. It's not that uncommon. If you have poor vision in both eyes though I don't know how that would work. -4.00 is pretty bad.

I'm not sure about your eyes getting worse. Your depth perception would be shot and it will probably give you headaches though. Also, usually one of your eyes is dominant. If you have the lens for that eye, you'll see pretty well, if you only have the lens for the other eye, you'll have problems.

I couldn't have said it better myself Mrs SSGB!!!! Great answer!!

I'm not sure why you would want to only wear one lens.... if you are in a situation where you only have one lens left or something it would probably be easier to just wear your glasses until you have more lenses.... because it is likely you will experience eyestrain.
Also wearing or not wearing your contact lenses will not cause vision to improve or worsen... so in turn wearing one of the lenses will not have any affect to your uncorrected visual acuity!!!!

I had the same issue. Get some eye drops specifically for contact users. I like "Clearz Plus"; it helps keep your eyes moist and helps prevent protein build up which is nasty. Hope that helps!

you must be crazy! you need to run as fast as possible to the lens center and get them replaced. i have almost same prescription as you have and believe me i can not resist more than 10 minutes without my glasses or without my contacts. it will give u lots of headaches and worsen ur vision.unless you be thinking on getting lasik you should take care of your eyes

why would you want to only wear one? it would make the eye that youre not wearing one in stronger than the other actually. they do that for people with lazy eyes, except with glasses not contacts of course.

your body will eventually adjust to you wearing one contact. its not unhealthy, but it's not really healthy either.

it would probably harm both eyes and give you a headache.
