I just received my contact lenses, and I wanted to know how bad -7.00 is for contacts.

I wore -7.5 and -8 contacts for years...and had always been told that I was 'off the chart' for vision. Worse than 20/400. Prior to my PRK surgery, I tried to find out myself without my glasses or contacts, and the closest I could come up was 5/400 (what a normal person can see at 400 feet, I could see at 5 feet), but even that was real iffy.
That would have put me at about 20/1600...or really really blind :)...like I said...'off the chart' (and I couldn't even SEE the chart! lol)

I'm a -5 and -4.25. I think my vision is about 20/400 in one of my eyes, so maybe you're like.... 20/700? I dont know. There are a lot of people who have worse eyes than you, and you can feel blessed that you can wear contacts that correct your sight!

I'm right there with you! If I put a book right in front of my face I can see it, but that's about it. But not a big deal; that's why we have corrective lenses!

It is pretty bad but I know a few people who are even worse than that. ANd hey look on the bright side you're not blind.

I agree with ME. I have a -3.00 and I can't much at all without my contacts in.

That is quite bad, my husband is -4.00 and is legally blind w/o this contacts or glasses.

Yikes, that is pretty strong....I wear -3.75 and can't see clearly after about a foot and a half.....good luck.

That's pretty bad, but not as bad as my eyes! (-8.00 in the right eye, -9.00 in the left.)

That is indeed pretty bad... But have you ever considered lasik???
