I have done a retina detachment surgery in January 2006 in my right eye. Now I need to do a cataract operation due to the previous surery.
What happens if I dont do it? Will I lose my eyesight completely? Can I postpone it and do it in another year time?

In general you should follow the advised schedule.

As an adult, not having the cataract done will not be risking a lazy eye.
The cataract will probably get worse, more complete, if left but could be treated at a later date with no extra problem.
Only extremely developed "hyper-mature" cataracts actually threaten the eye, and you will almost certainly have objected to the white pupil caused by a full cataract long before that.

There is another consideration, however. As well as preventing you looking out, the cataract is preventing the doctors from looking in. This makes assessing the retina for possible further tears or other problems more difficult.

With the cataract gone, the eye can be looked after better, apart from anything else (such as potentially getting binocular vision back).

Since you had retina detachment surgery already. You should contact appropriate eye doctor for cataract. You must ask your doctor who performed retina surgery that doing cataract surgery will be ok and yes removing cataract is necessary sooner or later otherwise your vision will be lost greatly.mostly cloudy kind of vision.Go to eye doctor first and take their opinion as nothing is precious then our eye sight.Good Luck.
