Do contact lenses hurt the eyes? I will be in the 7th grade next Year and I wont to get same color contacts. So the kids will stop calling me strange. I was born with a blue left eye and light brown right eye. I Have been getting the "Your Weird" look since 1st grade. My Mom said its just unique because im black with different color eyes and that she will not buy me contacts because they will hurt my eyes in the Future (but if thats the case then why do they sell them?) My Dad says that their gonna get me in trouble with the ladies when I grow up ..??????

All I know is the kids call me evil or strange in class and when I go out with my mom her friends are always squezzing my cheeks and asking me to look up at them ..
Do contact really hurt your eyes if so whats another solution

i do.. i've tried SO many different glasses throughout my life and they all cause me this problem. when i take off my glasses, you can see these dents. they're not deep but the area is slightly darker than the rest of my nose.

i also wear contacts but sometimes i really can't be bothered in the mornings, so i just wear my glasses. and even when i can be bothered wearing contacts, i get lazy about taking them off at night (but i always do take them off). so i wish i could wear glasses without that effect on the nose.

do all you glasses wearers have this problem with your nose? what do you do about it??

A friend of mine is taking corticosteroids (in pill form) for what the doctor has told her is an ulcer of the cornea. I read on wikipedia that TOPICAL corticosteroids are strongly contra indicated for this condition. I just wanted to make sure... is taking them orally a good treatment option for this condition? I dont understand how topical administration would be all that different, but of course im no optometrist. Could someone explain? Thanks.

I got some glasses recently with anti-reflective coating but I've heard some negative things about it. So is it inevitable that it will get scratched and/or ruined, or if I clean them correctly and stuff I won't have any problems?

When you are in an extremely hot environment your contacts can actually fuse to your eye and detach your retina?

I wear contacts and i went to the eye doctar and she said that if i damage my eyes by sleeping in my contacts I can't wear contacts anymore!!!

Does this mean my eyes won't be able to see out of them?
Or
Does is mean she won't prescribe me contacts?

How can I not damage them besides sleeping in them less?
How can I undamage my eyes if possible???
Should I take this seriously??? Because I am.

One of my eyes goes out of focus quite a lot, i notice it when i take photos. It is mainly when I am looking at something tiny and particular. My friends mock it sometimes and try and do it with their eyes, so i know when i'm doing it.

Is there anything I can do about this?

btw i'm short-sighted. and thinking of getting contacts..

Something very breathable, comfortable,
and won't dry out your eyes.

I'm desperate for new contacts, but
I don't actually have a "eye doctor"
to go to because my previous
one was very undependable
so I don't want to go back
there. (Wal*mart Eye Center)

I was at the doctors office earlyier this morning and she needed to check the pressure in my eyes. The puff thing didn't work so she put in numbing drops and poked my eye with something. This felt weird and was supposed to fade in 5-10 minutes. With about 2 minutes left on the fading time, I started feeling sick (dizzy, nasea, etc.). This passed and after I had diariha I decided it was my period (a really bad one). Now I feel fine, but my eyes still feel kind of weird. A little bit tingly and a little strange when I blink. It's been about 45 minutes, so is everything OK? I can see fine. Is is possible that that episode I had was not my period but something else. I have fainted one time before, and this felt similar to that, except I didn't faint. Thank you

My optometrist told me I have central heterochromia where the inner part of my iris is brownish and the rest of it is green. I have 20/20 vision and I've been reading up that it may be caused by toxin imbalances in the body that is genetic?
I'm joining the air force and they care quite a bit about your eyes and vision, so is there anything detrimental to your eyesight with this condition, or is it purely acidity in the stomach type stuff?

Would be nice to have some answers from people who work in this field, Thanks!

I recently had cataract surgery and the AcrySof Toric IOL implanted in one eye. At the first checkup, my vision was:

SPH: +1.25
CYL: Nil
AXIS: Nil

Just 2 days ago, my follow up revealed the following

SPH: +1.00
CYL: -0.50
AXIS: 160

Q: During this period, I developed about -0.50 D of astigmatism. What are the chances of my Astig progressing until I'll be needing astigmatic correction in the future?

Q: I hear from my surgeon that some form of astigmatism can be beneficial for my overall vision. What qualify it as "beneficial astigmatism"?

Q: It is believed that mild level of astigmatism does not warrant correction. What range is considered as "mild"? Will my current level of astigmatism require vision correction?

Q: My concern is since my IOL is a toric lens, initial tests showed that it corrected 100% of my astigmatism. The sudden appearance of -0.50 D of Astig, may mean the IOL is rotating inside my eye, thus negating any correction by the IOL? How likely is that the case?

Howcome ppl are willing to be overcharged for decent quality lenses. Granted, they do have better selection on frames but why not take it somewhere else to be made?

I have conjunctivitis, self diagnosed. Ive got watery eyes, red, swollen with a little burn at times. My question is do I absolutely have to go to the doctor or can I use these eye drops to heal this affliction? Is there something else I can use as well? I know I should go to the doc but I dont really have the means to right now...
