It's called 'Heterochromia' - although I didn't think this could actually take place with a different eye colour than the parents.
How extraordinary!

There are a few reasons she could have one blue and one brown eye. An ophthalmologist could likely tell you by examining her.

First you have to figure out which eye is the "problem." Since both you and her dad have blue eyes, then most likely her eyes were "supposed" to be blue. That means the brown eye probably has extra pigment on it. An iris "freckle" is an area of extra pigment, and usually covers only part of the iris, but it can cover the whole thing. That is the most likely explanation.

If the blue eye has a droopy eyelid and that same side of the face doesn't sweat, it could be a "Horner's syndrome" which can be a birth defect in which certain nerves to half the face don't form correctly. I assume, though, you would have told us if she had these other symptoms as well.

Your daughter was likely born with two blue eyes as the natural colouring of the eye doesn't come in until much later.

Its perfectly logical that one eye developed this colour, and the other didn't.

Each parent has a Dominant and recessive gene for eye colour. You and your partner might both have a dominant blue gene and a recessive brown gene.

There are 4 possible outcomes withthis

Mam dominant (Blue) + Dad dominant (blue) = blue eyes

Mam dominant (Blue)+ Dad recessive (brown) = blue eyes

Mam recessive (brown) + dad dominant (Blue) = blue eyes

Mam recessive (brown) + dad recessive (brown) = brown eyes

This means that your child has a 1 in 4 chance of having brown eyes.
Ithink having one of each colour is a quirk. My
friend has a brown and a blue eye and she gets REALLY sick of people telling her when they realise!!

The genetics she inherited. Brown eyes are dominant. Even though you both have blue eyes, there is a relative who had brown eyes in her heritage and that dominant gene appeared. I don't know why they are different colors.

There's nothing wrong with it. My little sister has
light green eyes. But her right one has a speck of brown and blue in it. It's very pretty. Also one of my friends has a tiny blue speck in one of her eyes. And i have blue eyes with tiny white speckles.
