I play a lot of sports and Iook really good without my glasses. I went to get contacts quite a while ago and I just couldnt touch my eye. I cant keep them open. Im 14 years old and i desperately need them. Any tips for me to keep my eyes open so i can put the lenses in? I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.

That needs personal tuition rather than words, or even pictures, on a computer screen.

In 25 years teaching people to handle contact lenses, I only had four people who couldn't manage it. There was one person who shut their eyes while the lens was still a foot away... I couldn't overcome that.

My record-holder required four hours of instruction before it came together (about 14 sesssions, not one torture-filled afternoon!) But, like riding a bicycle, it's impossible until you can do it, and pretty straightforward afterwards.

Look when I first got them I was horrified to put in too. It does feel weird for the first several hours, more or less. But now, I don't even know they're in and have slept with them.

I just tell myself I am not going to be a little wuss, the benefits are more important. I put my lense on my index finger and you the rest of my fingers, both hands, to keep upper and lower lid apart. I slowly position lense on eyes and stare straight ahead and know I am powerful MF and PRESTO it's done.

On some occasions, probably when a beginner, you might need a few tries or to re-wet.
Serious this is no big deal, when you get older and have to face adult probelms, you'll laugh at this.

Try holding your eye open with your middle and index finger after you've put the contact on the index finger of opposite hand. Right before it touches your eye look up ever so slightly. Your eyes natural reaction will want to close so if your not looking right at it helps. If you do close your eye anyway but the contact is completely in your eye leave your eye shut and adjust it over your eyelid and/or move your eye side to side and/or up and down. You will be able to feel if it is right over your pupil or not. Good Luck.

Place the contact lens on your right index finger. Now, hold down your bottom eye lid with your right ring finger. Hold your TOP lid up with your LEFT index finger. Look up and to the side while placing the lens onto your eye. Slowly look forward, letting the lens slide to the front of your eye. Pinch your bottom lid, pull it out and over where the lens is resting on your eye and look back and forth until the lens adjusts itself comfortably. It may take a week or so to really get used to them. Try wearing them for a few hours a day until you are okay for all day. Hope that helps. :-)

Some people can`t wear contacts due to sensitive eyes or fears, you could be one of these, It is a thing you must try and over come your self because it is your mind that tells you not to touch the eye as it may hurt etc. ,you may need laser surgery instead .
