I was at the doctors office earlyier this morning and she needed to check the pressure in my eyes. The puff thing didn't work so she put in numbing drops and poked my eye with something. This felt weird and was supposed to fade in 5-10 minutes. With about 2 minutes left on the fading time, I started feeling sick (dizzy, nasea, etc.). This passed and after I had diariha I decided it was my period (a really bad one). Now I feel fine, but my eyes still feel kind of weird. A little bit tingly and a little strange when I blink. It's been about 45 minutes, so is everything OK? I can see fine. Is is possible that that episode I had was not my period but something else. I have fainted one time before, and this felt similar to that, except I didn't faint. Thank you

The numbing drops usually wear off in about 20 minutes, occasionally last longer but should be less than 1 hour.

The dizzy/nausea/diarrhoea was a near faint. It would not be a reaction to the drops but your emotional reaction; it could have happened with a drop of water.

did you bring this info up with the doctor? It sounds like you have had some kind of reaction to the drops, but you need to speak to a professional. I can not believe that your period caused the reaction.

She may have used either proparacine or a fluorescein /proparacaine combo (it would have made your eye yellow). If you are allergic or sensitive to fluorescein this may have caused your reaction. If not may be it was something all together different. Check with your primary doctor to see if he can do a test for fluorescein allergy. Hope this helped!

I carry 'tears' eye drops with me when going to the opthamologist. Rinse my eyes as soon as I leave.
