Quality is in the eye of the beholder. Working for them I saw a lot of RX's going out WRONG. I was told that if the Pt. or their Doctor had trouble with it we would remake it, but just to pass it and see if it goes un noticed. Oh that is great quality. They were fronted out once on 20/20 magazine on TV for the very same thing. About 95 percent of the people I see in our Doctor's office I now work for stay in our office for their glasses to be made. We have a great selection and we make double sure that the RX is correct. And, smae product for same product, my prices are the same if not less.

According to Consumer Reports last year, when they shopped for eyeglasses Lenscrafters charged more than double the other stores they shopped. Ironic, because most people preceive that they are cheaper.
Convenience is a big factor. If every independent eye doctor were open until 9pm every night, chains would have fewer customers.

I work for a private eye doctor's office. Most people go to Lenscrafters because they think it will be cheaper (not really), faster (not always), and they're open late and on weekends (that's true).
We've had patients return to us because their glasses weren't made/measured correctly, but that can happen anywhere.

Because they do not know how corrupt the owner / franchiser is.
Ok, I see said the blind man! This is why O^O answers the way she does. Works for a doctor!
Nothing against you personally O^O.
Let me ask though: Is it really ethical to sell eyeglasses at a Doctor's office? You write the Rx you fill it you check it? u know what I mean.

I dont know, they over charged me for counting dots, got tired of it,and just hit the button now and then .Had pleanty of eye exams,That was just an expensive hoarse and pony show.I told them when I went in,I just simply wanted to find out if glasses could correct my cateract in my left eye. After the squeezed the money out of me ,he told me glasses wont help.In the 5 minutes of the doctors exam.I know I got ripped off.But it dont matter ,Im not going to pay ,anyway.I gave them my medicare part B card and payed the co pay ,when I left.

I worked at Pearle Vision and my boss there said that Lenscrafters was for the younger crowd and Pearle Vision was for the older crowd. Lenscrafters has the same stuff as pearle vision and we fill all the same orders as them, but for half the cost. i don't like walmart because their lenses are more expensive than even target, i like pearle vision and not just becaues i used to work there, but because they'd rather help you than take your money, and have great brand names. i hate their ar coating though, targets easy care is much better
