There is a difference between your old prescription and the samples your doctor gave you....the size (indicated by the 8.3 BC 14.0 DIA on your old ones and the 8.6 BC 14.2 DIA on the samples.) This may cause some shifting of the lens when you blink or move your eyes and can cause the irritation. It would be best to have your doctor order you a sample pair in the EXACT same size as your old prescription (I know for a fact he can do this directly from ACUVUE, I used to handle the contact lens orders for a Dr. office) when they come in try them out and if everything is ok, it was just the size. If you still have trouble the doctor should recheck you.

That's right, it is a base curve problem...the 8.3 and the 8.6

They probably just gave you the most common curvature, which is 8.6, and didn't bother to check if it was right for you.

Go back and tell them your problem, and they will surely exchange them.
