I am on home use of Demerol injections, however, I am now down to 400 ml a day which is not enough to allow me to be functional. I have been up to 1000 ml a day, but on the average, if I am to function properly I need between 500 and 700 mls. I am living in great pain because the medical professionals are not comfortable but they want me to live.(in pain) Because of my chronic pain, I have tried to commit suicide several times now that I'm suppose to live with the pain. I have been through many other medications that either don't work or I have adverse reaction to; so we end up with demerol again. I know the risks and am willing to take them, so I am looking for information that would help make the doctor more comfortable with prescribing. (i.e.: such as studies of pain management with demerol)

that I cannot work. I've done pain management, various Rx treatment regimens and still after almost 30 years, I cannot find relief. What has worked for you? Or, what are you aware of that I might suggest to my neurologist? Thanks.

Other than drugs - what do you do to deal with it?

I remind myself of ways that I'm lucky or blessed, and I try to keep my mind occupied on other things - boys, usually ;) And foot baths! My feet aren't hurting or anything, but it's just really comforting for some reason.

Any other suggestions? Things you think about? Breathing exercises?

I was just wondering I have extreme back problems since I was in elementary school which now is getting worse. I dont know what is the cause of it- I was in a car accident, and feel on a big tent nail when I was younger but I didnt have any pain at the time. But now my back is killing me. it hurts just to do simple things like washing the dishes and sitting up straight. It hurt to bend, lean, and everything. I went to the doctor and they said nothing was wrong with my back but it is killing me. Do anyone know of good over the counter pain killers or good aspiron to use.
