not sure if it rooted from lifting heavy boxes and long shopping tip 2 weekis ago?

It could be many things, spasms, trigger points, caused by your posture, heavy lifting. Try stretching it, you have muscles in your upper back that we forget to stretch them and strengthen them.

Clasp your hands together in front of your body. Straighten your elbows, keeping your hands clasped and your palms facing outward. Let your shoulders shift forward, and push your hands out away from your body. You should feel a stretch in your upper back area.

well mayb ur lifting the heavy boxes the wrong way? i would just try to sit up straight, mayb put some heat on ur back, and try to relax. r u stressed? that could easily add onto it.

its prob all the tension in the back. Try having amassage once a week to releave the tension
